Potential World Cup injury scare for Spurs star as he is spotted wearing an ankle strap

England kicked off their World Cup campaign in style, defeating Iran 6-2 in Qatar. The Three Lions put on a commanding performance, with every player putting in a stellar performance.

Jude Bellingham, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Bukayo Saka (x2) were all on the scoresheet for the Three Lions while Spurs star Harry Kane had a brace of assists.

Kane was substituted in the 76th minute and was replaced by the in-form Newcastle striker Callum Wilson. It appeared to be a tactical change at first, but images shared by The Athletic’s David Ornstein show the player wearing an ankle strap, which has Spurs and England fans concerned.

Ornstein tweeted:

“Harry Kane walking through mixed zone with right ankle lightly strapped and slight limp after a 48th-minute challenge by Pouraliganji. Kane was replaced on 75 minutes so one to watch but seems to have escaped serious injury.”

It indeed was just a scare as Gareth Southgate later updated that it doesn’t look like something of concern and that he ‘thinks’ Kane will be fine. He said as quoted by Dan Kilpatrick:

“Other than that haven’t seen anything of concern [about injuries]… I think Harry [Kane]’s fine,”

Kane’s injury does not appear to be serious, but with only a few days before England’s next game against the United States, the manager may have to adapt his workload in training accordingly.

In case Kane misses the next game, he will be replaced by Callum Wilson who has been on amazing form for Newcastle this season.
