Tottenham Hotspur are set for a major rebuild this summer and they have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.
The 57-year-old did an exceptional job at Celtic and he will be expected to guide Tottenham to trophies as well.
According to the Athletic, the Australian manager is likely to wield the axe this summer and as many as 10 players could leave the club in the coming weeks.
It seems that Tottenham are planning for a major clearout before they invest in the playing squad.
There is no doubt that Tottenham will have to bring in new signings in order to do well next season and get back into the top four. However, it is also true that they need to get rid of the deadwood.
Players like Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso and the £63m signing Tanguy Ndombele are set to return from their loan spells but the midfielders do not have a future at the north London club. It makes sense for Tottenham to cash in on them and sign a quality player who will add creativity and goals in the middle of the park.
Meanwhile, Tottenham need to bring in defensive reinforcements as well and they have been linked with players like Edmond Tapsoba and Gleison Bremer. It appears that they are ready to cash in on players like Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga. Sergio Reguilon does not have a future at the club either.
Hugo Lloris and Ivan Perisic could be on their way out as well. Youngster Alfie Devine could head out on loan.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get rid of their deadwood and bring in the necessary additions over the next few weeks. Daniel Levy will have to get it right during the transfer window in order for Tottenham to return to the Champions League immediately.
