Ange Postecoglou has revealed what Son Heung-min said after being subbed off with a knock against Qarabag.
Tottenham made a slow start to the new season but they have picked up the pace in recent weeks. They have won each of their last three outings in all competitions and will be looking to make it four wins in a row when they hit the road to square up against Manchester United at the iconic Old Trafford.
While they will be heading into this fixture in fine form, the availability of Son Heung-min is a major doubt after the Tottenham skipper was subbed off in their game against Qarabag. He picked up a knock around the 70th-minute mark and had to come off. Son looked in quite discomfort as he gingerly walked off the pitch. Ange Postecoglou has now revealed what the South Korean international said to him on his way to the bench.
While speaking on football.london, the Australian manager said: “He said he was a bit tired but I haven’t spoken to him or the medical staff yet.”
Despite being down to 10 men quite early in the game as Radu Dragusin was sent off, Spurs did manage to get the desired result. However, the fact that Son has picked up a knock is a major concern for the fans. The 32-year-old is their mainstay and Postecoglou would want to have his star forward available for the game against rivals Manchester United.
The former Celtic boss’ comments suggest it isn’t anything serious but one can only be certain once further updates arrive in the next hours following a test carried out by the club’s medical staff.
