Postecoglou has interest in Rennes winger valued ‘at least €50m’

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest Premier League club to join the race to sign Rennes winger Jeremy Doku.

That’s according to The Independent who claim that the race to sign the winger is between Manchester City, West Ham and now Spurs and it is wide open and could go on until the end of the transfer window.

West Ham is reportedly ‘more advance’ in their approach and ‘already have an offer in’ for Doku, although the amount falls short of Rennes’ asking price of ‘at least €50m‘.

On the other hand, Manchester City are said to be confident in their ability to finalise deals for both Doku and Lucas Paqueta over the next two weeks.

The 21-year-old Doku is highly regarded, having made his senior debut at the remarkable age of 16. In the previous season, he contributed seven goals and four assists in 35 appearances for Rennes.

Given his young age, his potential for growth and improvement is considerable as he gains more experience.

Interestingly, the report suggests that the club that doesn’t secure Doku’s signature may turn their attention to Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze as an alternative.

The arrival of Doku would complement Tottenham’s attacking options, particularly given his direct wing play. With their recent acquisition of Manor Solomon, who operates primarily on the left, Doku’s presence on the right side could provide valuable depth to Tottenham’s offensive capabilities.

That being said, it has been reported that the player has already agreed personal terms with Manchester City which means Spurs could turn attention to Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze if they end up missing out on Doku.
