Postecoglou given chance to sign Portugal winger after Perisic injury

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham confirmed that Ivan Perisic has suffered a serious knee injury and will be sidelined for a long time.

The unfortunate news comes at a time when the Croatian was enjoying a great spell under the new manager even if it was mostly off the bench.

His last two contributions resulted in a stunning comeback against Sheffield as he first assisted Richarlison’s equaliser and then played a key role in Kulusevski’s winner as well.

And the experienced player’s absence will come as a blow for the Australian.

But Ange may have been offered the chance to sign the perfect replacement as reported by Football London.

According to the report, Former Celtic star Jota who left the club in the summer to sign for SPL club Al-Ittihad could emerge as an option for Ange.

Jota’s stint in Saudi Arabia has turned challenging due to the club signing numerous foreign players, exceeding the Saudi Pro League quota. As a result, Jota has been left out.

Interestingly, Jota was linked with a move to Tottenham in the latter part of the summer transfer window.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey reported that Tottenham had the chance to sign the Portuguese international.

Jota has previously worked closely with Postecoglou during their time in Scotland, and this prior connection could open the door for a reunion at Tottenham.
