Postecoglou admits 26-year-old Tottenham player keeps missing penalties in training

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Yves Bissouma has missed most of the penalties he has taken so far in training.

With Harry Kane gone to Bayern, Tottenham have not only lost their record goal-scorer but their designated penalty taker as well.

Ange has to choose a new designated penalty taker for the team and has revealed that there are several players in running.

Among those in contention are Son Heung-min, James Maddison, and Richarlison. However, there’s one name that might not be at the forefront of the manager’s mind for this responsibility – Yves Bissouma.  He revealed that Bissouma missed most of the penalties he attempted in training.

Speaking about penalty takers, Postecoglou said (Football London):

“I saw a few of them trying today. Sonny is up there, I think Madders and Richy are all sort of in there.

“Bissouma I have seen take about 500 and miss about 495 but he is still out there practicing, so I don’t know but it is somewhere in that order.”

Bissouma may not be a penalty expert but he has been one of the best players for Tottenham since Ange has taken over.

His revitalised presence in the midfield is seen as a valuable addition to Tottenham’s squad.

Spurs have a solid midfield trio in Bissouma, James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr.

The 20-year-old put in a flawless performance against Manchester United last week and even scored the opener to help Spurs win their first game of the season. His performance seems to have earned him a starting spot alongside Bissouma and James Maddison.
