Poch Off His Rocker

Mauricio Pochettino is a queer beast.

We had the frankly bizarre need to be brave business after last season’s closer against Leicester City, but that was obvious a reference to Levy paying market rate wages to the players.

However Poch went one further and told PA Sport:

“I don’t understand rumours about, you know, transfer window closing. It’s not a problem if we lose one or two or three. Because we have plenty of players in the academy, no problem. I am more than happy. I am more than happy to keep all the players and I am more than happy if they leave and we play with the under-23s. It’s not a problem, I promise you. Not a problem for me.”

Er…

At the risk of pointing out the bleeding obvious, this is complete nonsense.

The Academy has produced nobody and it’s current golden generation of Instagram addicts have all failed to make their way into the first team squad. Some of them even failed to routinely make it into a Championship side’s squad.

Marcus Edwards has been deported loan out to Eredivisie club Excelsior – clearly they didn’t hear about his fiasco at Norwich City.

Onomah’s back at Hotspur Way, but remains unused.

Cameron Carter Vickers is at Swansea City.

I can’t even be bothered to list the others.

Pochettino batter hope he has no need to call on any of these kids anytime soon, or these words will haunt him.
