Poch Gently Points Gun At Levy’s Head

By The Boy -

Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham are at a crossroads and believes it will be impossible to continue overachieving in the manner they have.

“I think we’re going to have time to talk. Now we’re so focused on trying to finish the season. But if you ask me if we can repeat next season, I cannot guess.”

Echoes of the ‘being brave’ conversation?

“There’s many things to talk about and put on the table, and then try to be realistic. We cannot live like we have lived in the last five years – on the perception side and on the reality side.

This sounds like good news, however the being brave business (which got a lot of fans very excited) turned out to be a bit of a damp squib.

Sure, paying Harry Kane market rate wages was undoubtedly a good thing, but it was simply an expected thing. Unless you’re the sort of person that arrives home at the end of each month holding up your bank statement like the FA Cup – because you’ve been paid, again.

Kane got fixed up, but Vertonghen, Eriksen and Aldwerweireld were left swinging.

Pochettino’s problem is that he requires Levy heavy investment, just in order to stand still.

A side with regular Champions League pretensions needs a decent squad – one that doesn’t gradually disintegrate in the final furlongs.

Levy’s usual ‘mend and make do’ routine won’t cut it.

So where will the money come from?

Poch’s short term view may be a tad ambitious. “What does the club want to achieve in the next one, two, three, four or five years and what are the fans going to expect from the club?”

The club’s debts won’t facilitate the required class of expenditure.

What fans are looking at, at best is recycling the transfer fees of any players sold – more commonly known as another pointless ride on the merry-go-round.

Or maybe Mr Levy has something more exciting up his sleeve than just his elbow?

This summer will serve up the same slop as usual for Spurs.
Wel be linked with 1 or 2 possible improvements that Danny boy will make impossible and wel probably end up putting a couple of youngsters out on loan and sign someone from the Championship tipped to be the next….
Then wel hear all the usual BS about how difficult it all is and that Poch never really wanted to sign anyone anyway and that hes happy with his sqaud.

Pochettino needs to shoot Levy in the foot to show he’s serious, not just hold the gun to his head.
