Player ‘open’ to playing for Tottenham next season, €17m would get deal done

By Saikat -

Timo Werner is reportedly keen on signing for Tottenham Hotspur permanently at the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the striker is ‘open’ to playing for Tottenham beyond this season and a fee of €17 million would get the deal done.

However, Tottenham are yet to make a decision on his future and it remains to be seen whether they decide to sign him permanently.

The 28-year-old striker joined Spurs on loan during the January transfer window and he has proven to be a useful squad player for them. The German international is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three and he could prove to be a quality option in the coming seasons as well.

Werner has adapted well to his new surroundings and Tottenham’s attacking approach seems to be a good fit for the player.

The 28-year-old does not have a future at RB Leipzig and leaving the German club permanently in the summer would be ideal for him. It remains to be seen whether the Spurs decide to take up the option to sign him permanently.

There is no doubt that Tottenham need more depth in the attack and holding onto a versatile attacker like him could prove to be a wise decision. The reported asking price is quite reasonable as well and Tottenham certainly have the financial means to get the deal done.

Werner has picked up two goals and two assists for Tottenham across all competitions so far.
