Pete O’Rourke shares latest on Tottenham’s pursuit of another midfielder – report

Tottenham Hotspur are actively pursuing additional reinforcements for their midfield this summer, despite recently securing Archie Gray from Leeds United in a substantial deal reportedly worth £40 million.

According to insights from Football Insider’s senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke on the Inside Track Podcast, Spurs are committed to further enhancing their options in the middle of the park under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

While Tottenham had shown prolonged interest in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, recent reports suggest that a departure from Stamford Bridge this summer is unlikely.

Despite entering the final year of his contract, Chelsea are determined to retain the 24-year-old midfielder, who played a pivotal role for the Blues last season.

Gallagher featured prominently under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, making 37 appearances in the Premier League and contributing five goals and seven assists, showcasing his value and versatility.

With the potential signing of Gallagher becoming less probable, Tottenham have redirected their attention to other midfield candidates to strengthen their squad.

The impending departures of current midfielders Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso, both in the final year of their contracts, further highlight Spurs’ need to reinforce their midfield ranks.
