Pep Guardiola Acknowledges His Mission’s Impossible

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been making a small case for Manchester City as the side that could, in theory, find a way to rustle up the Harry Kane cash to test Daniel Levy’s resolve. Based upon Pep Guardiola’s quotes via the BBC, it would seem my thoughts were misplaced.

As I mentioned previously, much is set to be made of the return of some fans to stadiums, but the reality is that this will be too little to be of any use beyond contributing to operational costs.

If we can take Pep at his word, then this casts a very different light over Harry Kane exit stories, given that Manchester City had to be the most credible English side to potentially be in the mix. This would by default leave us with Real Madrid for the press to try and talk up as Kane’s ‘dream move’. What’s amusing there of course, is that agent Bale will still be draining €600,0000 a week from the Meringues’ coffers for another season.
