Paul Merson finally makes a huge admission about Harry Kane

Paul Merson has hailed Harry Kane as the best striker in the world after he starred for Tottenham in their win over Aston Villa yesterday.

The Englishman remains one of the best goalscorers in the game and has continued to deliver the goals for Tottenham.

The Lilywhites have been fortunate to enjoy his goals and he has added assists to his game in this campaign.

The Englishman has 17 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League and has adapted his game to become more of a team player.

Merson says there is no better centre forward than him in the world right now.

The former Arsenal man spoke after Kane helped Spurs to a 2-0 win over Villa and says even Erling Haaland isn’t at his level yet.

He adds that, unlike other strikers who just stay in the box, Kane brings people into the play and has an array of passes that the likes of Sergio Aguero lack.

He said on Mail Sport: ‘He’s got an all-round game and I personally think he’s the best centre-forward in the world, he’s the only player I know who has got the whole package.

‘People will go ‘oh (Erling) Haaland, he’s 20, he scores goals, that’s what he brings to the party’. Kane brings everything to the party.

‘He’s got an array of passing, he can put people in, he can join the play. I can’t talk highly enough of the lad, I really can’t, he’s a special, special player.

‘I’m not sure about it (breaking Shearer’s record), at 30, 31 he’s still got to get 25 a season. He can play so much deeper and he’s a team player. He’s not someone like an (Sergio) Aguero who’s just going to sit in the box.’

This is a strange admission from Merson who infamously said via Sky Sports that Kane would not excel under Mourinho, now apparently he is the best centre forward in the world, under Mourinho.

Go figure.
