Étienne Capoue could be handed an escape route from Tottenham Hotspur after Atlético Madrid showed interest in the France midfielder.
Capoue had a frustrating first season at White Hart Lane, when a combination of injuries and being overlooked for Nabil Bentaleb restricted him to only eight Barclays Premier League starts.
He predicted correctly that his lack of football would affect his chances of playing in the World Cup finals for France, and a proposed move to Napoli broke down in January..”
The Times (£wall) goes onto on to suggest that Tottenham are looking for a successor to Sherwood as a head of development, despite the return of Ian Broomfield as chief scout from Queens Park Rangers.
Call me bloody minded and old fashioned, but can’t Mauricio Pochettino, Jesús Pérez, Miguel D’Agostino and Toni Jiménez do the job between them?
Which makes me think that either the author, Gary Jacob is looking for any old guff to pass off as a “Stars Flee Spurs” type piece, or he genuinely believes that Levy & Co. will sell of Capoue at a loss this summer.
And the piece by Mr Jacob goes on to say that Les Ferdinand has turned down the striking coach role at West Ham.
Which I find laughable. This indicates that that Les & Tim are turning down jobs left right and centre, as they know that the likes of Monaco or PSG are soon to come a knocking.
