Opinion: Winning the Carabao Cup will do one massive thing for Tottenham going forward

Tottenham has just booked a place in the Carabao Cup final after beating Brentford in an impressive semi-final performance yesterday.

The Lilywhites haven’t won a trophy since 2008 and they made Jose Mourinho their latest manager because they want to end that.

The truth is that we have been due a trophy for a long time now, especially when we were playing some of the finest football anywhere.

It is truly unfair that Mauricio Pochettino was unable to win a trophy for us despite the progress that we made under him.

With Mourinho at the helm now, we are on the cusp of winning a trophy again, and starting with the Carabao Cup is a no-brainer.

We have already beaten Manchester City and Manchester United this season, one of whom we will play in the final after their semi-final match today.

Once we get that first elusive trophy under our belts I am of the opinion that it will turn us into serial winners, because of the manager we now have.

Our current players have what it takes in terms of ability and the mentality to win games, but they need to win just one trophy to get themselves ready to win more.

Liverpool was in a similar position to us, but as soon as they won the Champions League, there has been no holding them back.
