Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.
The 28-year-old Denmark international has struggled for regular game time at the north London club and he has started just five matches in the Premier League this season.
He needs to play more often at this stage of his career and naturally, there has been speculation surrounding his long-term future at Tottenham.
It seems that the player has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham do not view him as a key player anymore.
The midfielder is now keen to move on this month and journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that the situation is ‘one to watch’ and Hojbjerg is ‘open for a new challenge’.
📍Lyon was pushing for PE Højbjerg in the last days but he rejected!
Many clubs inquired about him. He’s one to watch in the next days as the 28 y/o is still open for a new challenge in winter. #THFC @SkySportDE 🇩🇰 pic.twitter.com/by587OYxfD

He has been linked with clubs like Atletico Madrid and Juventus in recent months and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. He has been a reliable performer for Tottenham since joining the club from Southampton but his style of play does not fit in with Postecoglou’s philosophy.
It would be ideal for the two parties to go their separate ways and Hojbjerg could still prove to be a key player for most clubs. He needs to join a club where he will play every week and it will be interesting to see if a transfer can be agreed in the remaining days of the window.
With that said, it wouldn’t be surprising if Tottenham refused to sanction his departure without bringing in a quality replacement first.
