Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he regrets not signing Spurs star Heung-min Son.

Son has been one of the best attackers in the country if not the world since the last few years. His last season in particular was his best so far with him scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists, winning the golden boot alongside Mo Salah.

He joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for a fee of £22million and has scored an incredible 136 goals and provided 76 assists in 344 appearances.

His start to this season was rather surprisingly poor with him struggling to score or assist. But one game on the bench helped him regain his form as he came on to score a stunning hat-trick against Leicester City followed by back-to-back goals for his country. He has 5 goals and 2 assists so far this season in 19 apps.

The South Korean however, suffered an unfortunate injury during the Champions League clash vs Marseille when he fractured his eye socket making him a doubt for the upcoming World Cup.

He also missed this weekend’s game against Liverpool and after the game while speaking to the South Korean broadcaster KBS News, Jurgen Klopp made this huge admission. He said (via Express):

“One of the biggest mistakes in my life was not signing him (Son).”

“Outstanding, world-class, and one of the best strikers in the world.

“I heard he’ll be alright. Maybe need to wear a mask, but even with a mask, he’ll be alright.”

The 30-year-old will be hoping to recover in time for the World Cup and Jurgen Klopp and Conte both are confident that he will be back by then which is great news for Spurs as well as South Korea.
