It is finally here, the opening game of the season and best of all, the fans are back as well.
The big question everyone wanted an answer to before kick-off was whether Harry Kane would start, well, now we know, he is not.
With or without Kane this was always going to be one of the toughest fixtures of the season for Spurs and to some extent, it is good that we are getting it out of the way early on.
No one knows exactly how each team will start their respective seasons and so if you were ever going to catch City at the right time, it is the opening game of the season in front of your own fans.
It also helps that City are also without some key players including Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden, though they are hardly short of quality replacements.
Anyway, this is the Tottenham lineup to face City this afternoon, what do you think of the starting X1.
Your team to face @ManCity! 🙌 pic.twitter.com/BUFdDIMny8

I remember when Liam was at a Spurs-City game over decade ago. He kept coming out the exec box onto the balcony giving it large. All the spurs fans sang ” you’re just a shit Chas’n’Dave”. It was great. Spurs won 2-1, we gave him so much stick.
The media helps these transfers happen sometimes, I reckon.
He’s got the excuse not to after today….
BBC made me laugh today, “after this game you can see how desperate they are for a striker”. What complete garbage…my heart bleeds for them it really does. 🤔
Yeah, a club cheating the financial fair play rules. I hate them.
The guy had a season ticket at Arsenal when he’s a Citeh fan!? Yes, weird.
I bet he’s in a great mood tonight after this weekend “feelin’ supersonic” mate! 😂
I think we can count our lucky stars that De Bruyne did’nt start and play a full game. When he did come on it was a nervous time for all as we know how dangerous he can be. Then again we need that luck….Also thought the ref Anthony Taylor had a great game.
Are you crazy 😂…That performance today was all Levy needed as an excuse to say ‘Why do we need to spend money if we have a team that beat last season’s League winnwers”…😂😂. That’s it Transfer window has closed early for Spurs.
Ha ha yes, all would be forgiven.
If Levy could pull that off, he’d make a convert out of me 🙂
Full marks Jaffa and the new gaffer
Really enjoyable game!!
Great to see everyone getting stuck in – & being allowed to!! Made for a great watch.
Well done Jaffa!! Led by example from tackle no’1. 👏👏👏
Ya man. Everyting bless. Hope its likewise. YIDZ
Maybe we sell them Charlie Kane ‘by mistake’ – you better check the small print City…
Garry? Larry? Something like that.
don’t look back in anger Noel
Kane who ?
We noised it up in there. 12th man was firm like the team. I love our new stadium
Nothing particularly against Citeh. I’d love to see that gobsh*te Noel Gallagher’s face tonight… 😂
Good luck to levy. FCK the city transfer team
He was great today.
I’d stop a bit short of “lethal”, as there were numerous chances and we took only one – if we were a bit more on it, this could have been over sooner.
Still, it’s a win against Pep, so no complaints.
Hey Tappa ,hope your well fella.
My thoughts exactly. That Sanchez tackle on De Bruyne a good example.
Yeah mate on fire.
Yup, and with a counterattacking win against the 20 points ahead eventual league winners. We are Spurs however so lets enjoy each positive when we get ’em and while we can.
Levy must of been bricking it…this could’ve been a tuff day with the crowd had it gone bad…
When he’s on form he’s an outstanding player
Ha Ha Ha ……
Some people say he was at the game others say he wasn’t. He’s off now by the looks of it. Good luck to the City transfer team with Levy.
We looked good in possession and building attacks today – not just counter attacking, although our front three were lethal at that at times
As you said it’s the first game, let’s see what happens after ten. Last season started in a blaze of glory
just use Kane for the Europa games…
Ironic isn’t it, Kane’s departure might indeed set our forward players free in some respects. I remember getting that impression when Kane was injured for a while and we looked far more fluid up front and still scored goals. Still prefer him on our side though.
It’s clearly far too early to make proper judgements but when I see the ‘usual suspects’ playing with assurednesss against such quality opposition it makes me question the managerial nous of The Specious One even more so.
Brilliant that ☺️ Moura a f*cking warrior 💪🏽
last season the performances felt like we were getting battered for 90 mins this was a pleasurable watch
Are you watching Harry Kane 😂👏🏾 Genius
wasn’t their but apparently crowd started chanting ‘are you watching Harry kane’
love football
Ok well, I called that wrong after the first 15 mins. Could the commitment until the end be because of fitness levels being higher? No doubt the crowd lifted the players and even Kane must have been impressed with the atmosphere and the way the team fought. However, perhaps also the team played too much around Kane and now they are playing more open with Moura and Bergwijn both running with pace through the middle. Even Dele was getting stuck and looks, fitter. We still need quality additions and its far to early to get to optimistic but that was a result that all the fans and the players needed to bring some good news home at last.
eh eh eh the man must be fuming. If the Arabs don’t get him his expensive new toy by the end of next week, he’ll pull a tantrum in the boardroom.
Looks like Nuno has been told to prepare for life without Kane… 🤔
Dare I say that was Mouras best ever all round performance for Spurs. He tormented City.
A unifying coach rather than a divisive one.
Togetherness, completely absent most of last season. Read into that what you will… 🤔
YIDARRRRRRMY.
You can see tomorrow’s headlines;
’Pep switches his attention to Son as his main target this transfer window. City prepare 180m bid’ 😂
I was worried for the boy but he grow into the game….bye bye Winks, sorry mate, appreciate the effort but time to move on..
Lucas played like a man on a mission today. Tanganga was incredible. There was a lot of togetherness and determination in that performance, which is a massive improvement in itself. Even my favourites Dier and Sanchez played well after a poor start.
Was worried Bergy’s miss would cost us, but luckily, it didn’t. Sort out your finishing and you’re golden!
My only caveat is that we’ve had performances like this early last season too – defensive grit, less possession and counters. Will we do this against lesser teams as well or will the “shackles go off”? We’ll see, but this was very promising.
skipp covered Japhet and worked hard to atone for his mistakes him and hojberg is a tough pairing,
Great having a full stadium I must say.
come on lads, its only 1billion City, lets not get carried away..
Skipp will have a lot easier games than this one this season – he’s got a way to go yet but deserves his squad place 100% based off that
Well done to the lot of em, great result!
Broke a record against Pep I think, true bogey side for him – he must be hating us at this stage
Dare I say it, even Dier looked decent today. Team game, team performance. That nails it for me.
agreed I tuned in expecting to see a painful watch and enjoyed every second we didn’t drop deep at all and kept solid
from the City corner at the end when Moura sprinted to win a ball he had no right nicking you know we were more committed this game – City is a n strange state, might be a slow start for them
So, ‘Harry Kane’s team’ actually managed a win vs all-powerful City WITHOUT Kane or any new signing? THIS. FELT. GOOD.
They need a striker but also, after the first 20 minutes they didn’t create a load of chances
Sanchez looks like a defender again!
would of given it the other way round both absolutely 9/10 if not 10/10 performances tho
He’s got them playing as a team again, much like Poch did in his Spurs pomp. Yes, good work Nuno. Great man management too, you’ve picked this lot up off the floor…
now go spend some money Levy ffs!!
Great gutsy performance by Spurs. PEH, Skipp, Tanganga and Moura all immense. Grounds for optimism.
Brilliant start to the season. Lots of potential and Nuno just might be the guy to unleash it fully.
Good team performance which is the key, and has been missing or ages.
Incredible start Nuno – right subs at the right time, right tactics at the right time, we improved as the game went on – 10/10
It’s almost like City need a striker….
Red year, expected City to lose today, 64th win over City on 64 date numerology. Pep Guardiola=64 Nuno=64…..
Hats off…couldnt take my eyes off the game…what a great half….well done…
The tactics are so much better. This is the setup of a true pro today. Very impressive managing by Nuno!
The skill too, his first touch, acceleration and his turns were brilliant all game
Enjoyed that, gives you a lift. COYS.
The restorative powers of Jose leaving the building? They look sharper, fitter and more like a team today.
This group didn’t respond well to being told to step it up as individuals or being dug out as individuals. The collective approach suits them, which is why it was such a poor appointment in the first place…
Showed great heart. That’s the best to see. Love those boys.
Moura MOTM for me, then Tanganga
Goo g to a back three for the last few mins?
Whatever floats your boat! 😂
In fairness, KDB is truly world class.
Tanganga picked up a knock.
Skipp is really struggling here. Keeps ball watching and DeBruyne is running behind him.
Why sub Tangy with the flop?
Bloody hope not .
Do not send him to bleedin’ Turkey Mr Levy
The whole team really and actually look like their up for a fight.
Is he injured? Exceptional game.
The two Citeh have brought on might change things. DeBryune in particular.
He’s had a lot of good games for us, just not consistent in the slightest.
Diet has been good today to be fair.
please not a set piece goal
I have watched Gil played quite a bit the last two seasons, he is absolutely brilliant, he is going to be loved here. He is built like Modric, but plays like Foden. Absolutely no fear of taking on any defender.
Zinchenko looks like Ellen Degeneres.
The C Team City players like De Bruyne coming on now
good man
Time for a sub Nuno
I meant to say sub off Dele…
I don’t think he can sub Dele for Lo Celso. The role Dele is playing, you need a right footed player. If we play this 4-3-3 all season, I don’t see where Lo Celso fits. Gil on the left would be a great sub right now.

Excited to see Gil
