“Of course he shouldn’t” Paul Robinson shoots down “ridiculous” Kane suggestion

Harry Kane has struggled for form in this campaign after asking to leave Tottenham in the last transfer window, but Paul Robinson doesn’t think they should drop him from their starting XI.

The England captain won the Premier League’s Golden Boot last season and wanted to join Manchester City after Tottenham finished outside the top four again.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy refused to grant him his wish and he has been struggling for form since then.

Kane remains one of the best strikers in the world, but he hasn’t been so helpful to the Lilywhites in this campaign.

Spurs won their first three league matches of the season and he didn’t start the first two.

Since Son Heung-min got injured during the last international break, Spurs have struggled and Kane has been unable to inspire them to wins.

Some fans have now called for him to be dropped for the North London derby against Arsenal today.

However, former Tottenham number one, Robinson believes it is absolutely the wrong thing to do.

“It comes into question now whether they should have sold him but at the end of the day they didn’t,” he told Football Insider.

“There is going to be talk about him all season because you can see that he doesn’t want to be there.

“I heard people saying after the Chelsea game that he should be left out of the team.

“Of course he shouldn’t. It would make an absolute mockery out of the decision not to sell him for £120million a few weeks ago.

“It’s ridiculous to even suggest so, he has to play. He isn’t the type of player or person who will down tools. He’s their best player.”
