Miguel Delaney again for the Independent, who would appear to be seeking to appeal to that end of the Spurs fanbase that has convinced itself that a Harry Kane transfer is a deal that can’t be done.
As per this earlier piece, a Harry Kane transfer is immensely achievable whether Daniel Levy answers his phone or not. Delaney would have us believe that the magic number to eventually release Kane is £200million. The truth is that the market decides the price of a footballer.
If you’re selling livestock, one need not sell if the market price is unfavourable – unless one needs quick money. The last time I looked, the England captain didn’t have four legs.
Furthermore, Kane might go for £200million, but that doesn’t mean to say we have come cartoon scenario with Pep pulling up outside the stadium with bags for life, stuffed to the brim with banknotes. Deals can be spread over a long period of time, for example, Moussa Sissoko will take 6 years to pay for.
The talk of Kane remaining at Spurs is, in my considered opinion, wildly optimistic.
