NFL Set To Put Levy’s Business Genius To The Test

Wembley Stadium’s NFL deal ran out in 2020 which is only no surprise, but a few years ago that would have been a date in Daniel Levy’s diary with marked out with several big stars and circled with one of those neon highlighter pens.

The NFL’s plan is for 32 of their teams to play at least once overseas between 2022-2030, but since that announcement, the number of countries to be involved in this world tour has only expanded.

The obvious concern is that ENIC’s current 2 games a year deal is looking very much like it could take forever to pay off the vast sums invested in building the retractable pitch, bespoke dressing rooms, and all the other extraordinary lengths that were gone to in order to be part of Levy’s master plan.

Chris Haplin the NFL’s executive vice president and chief strategy and growth officer’s latest quotes carried in the Mail Online aren’t exactly crowing about the brave new offering in North London.

What would give everyone a much-needed boost at Tottenham is an announcement that Haringey was now going to the NFL’s HQ in the UK. What’s worth mentioning here is that back in 2019, the NFL’s big cheese in Europe Alistair Kirkwood, gushed to Sky that Levy deserved kudos for the commitment to the stadium’s NFL set-up. Kirkwood has since stepped down and Brett Gosper is the new man.
