New sporting director Johan Lange could raid old club to bolster Tottenham’s defense in January

Calum Ritchie of GiveMeSport has claimed that new Tottenham Hotspur sporting director could potentially target FC Copenhagen wonderkid Valdemar Lund.

According to the report, Lange may use his connections at Copenhagen to pursue a deal for the highly rated 20-year-old.

One potential scenario mentioned is the loaning of Lund back to the Danish club until the end of the season to facilitate the transfer.

While Tottenham has been solid defensively with the partnership of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, squad depth remains a concern.

However, Spurs have a problem with their squad depth. Having gotten rid of the likes of Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez, and Sergio Reguilon in the summer – Ange Postecoglou is really short of defensive options.

The only back up senior option to the centre-back position is Eric Dier who has not been able to impress Ange. He has not played a single game for Spurs this season and is likely to leave on a free next summer.

Another centre-back linked is Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly, while the report also names Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba as someone Spurs could revisit in January.

TBH Says:

The defense is no doubt a priority for Ange in January. We are one injury away from having a centre-back crisis.

While Lund could be a great coup, loaning him back to the Danish club would not solve the need for immediate bolstering.

Someone like Tapsoba would be a great signing and would immediately improve our squad depth.
