Neville backs Tottenham to turn around their form because of this one big reason

Gary Neville has backed Tottenham to return to form now that Harry Kane is back in the team.

Kane is arguably the most important player in the Spurs team at the moment, and he showed that again when his return to the starting XI coincided with Tottenham’s return to form against West Brom yesterday.

They had lost their three matches before that game without him in two-and-half of them.

His ankle injury was expected to keep him out for a while, thankfully he made a surprise return against the Baggies and marked it with a goal.

Spurs will now look to get back to form and fight for a top-four spot, Neville thinks they can achieve that now that Kane is back.

He insisted that the England captain has a huge influence on them and they are not a team when he isn’t playing.

“If Harry Kane doesn’t play at Tottenham they’re nothing like the team,” Neville said on The Gary Neville Podcast.

“If you remember about two months ago we were talking about Tottenham being potential title challengers and at the time I didn’t think that was going to be the case. But I actually thought they were starting to play some really good football.

“I thought the connection between the front players was good. I thought Sissoko and Hojbjerg and midfield were starting to build a relationship.

“The back four was settling down, Aurier was producing his best football and Dier was cementing himself at centre-back, but they are in a messy patch whereby it looks like they have gone back a bit towards the lack of co-ordination and not really connected as a team, like they did in the early days when you thought what’s going on here.

“But that could be because Kane has not been there, he has such a big influence in that dressing room and in that club and with him being back results will improve.”

Kane has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 20 Premier League games this season.

These are the numbers helping Spurs stay in the race for the top four.
