‘never say never’: Sky Sports reporter opens up on Tottenham’s deadline day plans

By Saikat -

With the summer transfer window closing later today, every club in the Premier League will look to strengthen their squad and get rid of their fringe players.

Similarly, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to end the window on a high, and it would not be a surprise if they decided to make any late moves to improve the squad.

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has now revealed that any potential incoming cannot be ruled out with regards to Tottenham, but the focus of the club is on getting rid of players they do not want to keep.

The likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon are expected to be sold before the window closes. Although the transfer window does not close in every country across Europe today, Tottenham are looking to get most of their outgoings sorted by tonight.

He said to GiveMeSport: “Never say never with Tottenham but, as it stands, there is going to be a focus on outgoings after signing the likes of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert.

“The two players Spurs are trying to move on today are Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon. Of course, the transfer window doesn’t shut today for clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey, but Spurs ideally want the outgoings done today.

“As I said, never say never with Spurs but, as it stands, there will only be outgoings.”

Spurs have done well to bring in quality players this summer, but there is always room for improvement and Tottenham fans will feel that another central defender would have been ideal. It will be interesting to see if they make any late moves in the next few hours.

Tottenham will be expected to secure Champions League qualification this season and they will look to do well in the Europa League as well. They need a deeper squad with more quality in order to do well across multiple competitions.
