National team manager tips £105m ‘superstar’ to snub Tottenham

The manager of Serbia, Dragan Stojkovic has urged Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to join Juventus ahead of the January transfer window.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the 57-year-old expressed his thoughts on Milinkovic-future, Savic’s as the midfielder looks set to leave Lazio in 2023, with the report claiming that Juventus is interested in signing the Serie A superstar as a solution to their midfield problems.

Lazio owner Claudio Lotito recently told Il Messaggero that the 27-year-old is now worth at least €120 million (£105 million), indicating that the Roman club has high financial expectations for Milinkovic-Savic, who is also on Antonio Conte’s radar at Tottenham, according to Sky Sports via Sempre Milan.

While the prospect of playing in the Premier League may be appealing to the midfielder, Juventus appear to be in pole position to sign the Lazio talisman.

And Stojkovic seems to agree. When asked if Milinkovic-Savic would join Juventus, Stojkovic responded:

“Yes, Sergej is the midfielder Juventus is missing. He would be a great coup for the Bianconeri. But I am a coach, not a manager. I am relatively interested in where he will play in the future. Milinkovic-Savic is a superstar. At Lazio, Juve or another club, he would still be a starter for Serbia.”

Juventus will feel their disastrous start to the season could still be salvageable if they manage to sign a player of Savic’s quality in January which seems almost too likely to not happen, much to Tottenham’s dismay.
