Mourinho Was Caught Out So Maybe He Should Just Tell The Press He Calls The Shots And That’s An End To It|opinion

Arguably the biggest topic of debate amongst fans recently has been the rather confusing situation surrounding Toby Alderweireld’s availability ahead of the Newcastle game last weekend.

We covered this matter, of course, and flagged by Alasdair Gold who spoke out on his YouTube channel about the lack of sense that existed between what José said and what was witnessed by everyone. The reporter said,

“Alderweireld not only was in photos on Thursday from training but in a video on Friday was also shown in training. So for Mourinho to say that he wasn’t training until Saturday and that he didn’t do any training until the final day. I’m hoping we get clarity on Friday because it made no sense…”

Was either sense or clarity forthcoming yesterday in the presser? Eventually is the answer. Well, sort of. The portion of the presser with that question was embargoed until 1030 pm. Funny that.

Then, when Jonathan Veal asked about the inconsistencies in last week’s events, the gaffer snarled his way through it. Suggesting that the press had already made up their minds.

The best way to diffuse such a situation is, to tell the truth, not snap, ‘well, you think I’m lying, so I shan’t answer you!’

This was an embarrassing moment for José and hats of to the club for the dead cat that was the Prince Phillip business. Well played.
