Mourinho Video Inadvertently Reveals Why Almost Certainly Dele Alli Is Toast At Tottenham

By The Boy -

Wow. As I have said on numerous occasions on our rather excellent #KeepItTottenham podcast, I genuinely never set out to be proved right. It was never my intention to upset those of you in the audience that lacked the ability to correctly analyse what they were watching. Dele Alli wallpapered over his ineffectual contributions with the threat of, and occasional delivery of assist or goals. In this post-West Brom clip, Mourinho explains why Harry Kane is such a joyous goalscorer, because it goes beyond the numbers of goals scored.

I want a lot from Spurs (still think we will win a pot or two and finish no lower than 3rd) but personally I want to see a player who loses the ball sprinting back like Usain Bolt after a couple of Swedish Beach Volleyball players (yes I have seen the video).
Alli isn’t that man.

Why is that ridiculous Marbella? I wasn’t saying that Dele is the same as those players, I was making the point that those are examples of players who play with their heart on their sleeve, who didn’t care about taking out a defender and stare them in the eye. Is that not what it’s all about??

‘Always picked’ I’m not sure he’s been paying attention Marbs. Poch dropped Dele consistently, he regained a bit of form and got himself back in a bit but was still benched here and there, even then.

The idea that Poch soft peddled any player is just lying, to start with. He was a stickler for training levels and application, which might have been why he benched him so much in the end.

Tappa is just obsessed with Poch and hates the fact that we finished higher in the league consistently four four seasons than we ever have in our entire history. It clearly hurts him… for some weird reason.

I think that was when he lost his natural drive to improve at Tottenham. It got quite bad in there by the end. No enthusiasm in training. A loan away somewhere for the rest of the season would probably do dele good. Maybe he’s just sick of the place at the moment. I question his ability.

What a load of complete horse manure. You are now blaming the decline in Alli’s form on Poch’s training methods despite the fact that Jose has been at the club for a year. Are Jose’s training methods merely physically demanding as well? In your own words, don’t believe what you read.

Utter rubbish. Deles game hasn’t improved coz he wasn’t kept on his toes (always picked) and the training technically wasn’t freshened up enough. only training was physically demanding. Nothing else. They were just going through the same old motions I was told. Sick of it. He wasn’t challenged enough

So, why blame it on Poch? Mourinho has been at Spurs for a year and clearly doesn’t rate him.

Petty? Things happen off the ball normally that ends up in feet being left in late. Dele thinks he’s always the victim? Says who? Stop talking rubbish man

What off field interests does dele have? Apart from the hat ting? How else is he meant to fill his day when he finishes training at one? He’s gotta do something.

I agree. His petulance in games wasn’t the bandit villain stuff of Diego Costa. It was a result of immaturity and a player like that becomes a liability.

Any manager in the world would want him to stop doing stupid stuff but keep his aggression. If Dele wasn’t able to do that and keep his level up then he can’t blame anyone but himself. Blaming the very coach that made him into a Premiership player in the first place is complete garbage.

Dele is alright but he’s lost his way and likes the stuff outside football too much. He’s a good time boy who likes to enjoy things and he plays in a similar way. Hard to harness that talent and Poch did, it but in the end even Poch was benching him loads too.

Dele needs to knuckle down but he needs the right manager too…

If a player keeps getting himself booked or sent off, he is no longer an asset to his club or country. Alli’s red and yellow cards were the result of his childish petulance. To compare him to Zidane, Keane or Cantona is ridiculous. Alli’s transgressions were not those of a hard man , which I suspect he imagined he was, but they were generally petty, off the ball or leaving his foot in late. It is a manager’s job to get the best out of a player, and Poch’s recent comments bear out his admiration of his playing ability but players have to take responsibility for their actions and in Alli’s world, he is always the victim. In short, he hasn’t grown up. Mourinho doesn’t have time for this.

I agree completely Tapp, said it at the time. I remember Poch saying he needed to work on Dele’s ‘dicipline’, maybe after a red card or a penalty, I cant remember exactly. And from then on in, Dele slowly disappeared. Dele was Dele BECAUSE of his petulance and don’t-give-a-f*ck swagger. Diego Costa was as good as he was – albeit more aggressive – because of that demeanour. Zidane, Keane, Cantona….
Some players just need to be let off the reins to do what they do.
Poch tried to tame Dele, and it backfired spectacularly for player and club.

Are you seriously blaming Poch for the decline in Alli’s form? Quite ridiculous, even by your standards. He has too many off field interests and has lost his focus.

It’s pretty obvious that Jose doesn’t think he fits into what he wants from his system. Probably been the case from day one.

He has a player that hasn’t been playing well for a while and also doesn’t fit his system. Dele probably needs to move on, I reckon he’ll come good again but never under this manager.

More Dele bashing. I’m guessing you’ve previously had it in for Ndombele Lloris and Dier. No doubt Kane and Son will be your next targets when they go through rough patches. Dele doesn’t deserve to be in the team, let’s just get behind our great club and leave it at that.

Move on Harry ,you can do so much better than having a go at Dele every day,we would all like to see him regain his form and inject some creativity into the side than kicking him while he’s down.

I can’t even think of a club that would suit dele right now. Would he get a game at Dortmund. Benfica maybe. Here in England Leicester. Gerrard at rangers. Lyon in france. He could go help QPR🌚
