Mourinho Reveals That The Penny Has Finally Dropped For Harry Kane

By The Boy -

Last night a small whirlwind of speculation broke when it became evident that Harry Kane hadn’t travelled to the Puskás Aréna. The first thought of many fans was that the England captain has managed to pick up a niggle in training. According to José Mourinho, Harry made the decision based on him listening to his body.

This is quite a u-turn from a player who has endless form for involving himself in utterly meaningless games, that really didn’t need him putting himself at risk.

Quite why it took Kane so long to work out that against minor European sides, we could survive without him is anyone’s business – in the gaffer’s post-match comments in the Independent are modest to the point of saying that the initiative lay with the 27-year-old – who knows, perhaps it did? All I know is that whilst this is a relief, it’s at least 6 years too late.

One reason he didn’t play last night was that even if things didn’t go to plan there was a second leg in which to rectify things. He had to come on against Wycombe to see us through and Everton as well as they were one off games.
Fortunately he can have next Thursday off too.

Phone rings
Kane: “Yeah, obviously” (courtesy of Darren Farley)
Pep: “Don’t go to Hungary”
Kane: “OK Boss”

It’s worrying that the club were ever contemplating that he travel never mind play after coming back from injury, playing so many minutes and with a Premier League game at the weekend.

Agree with all above to degree but I’d put my money on him simply wanting to be around his still very young new born baby boy!
three days away (out of country) from the misses and a new born in these times is simply not worth it!
sometimes the simplest reasons are the best!

This exactly. Our squad is mostly untrustworthy – sometimes they make an effort and do well, but other times, they can’t be bothered and you get LASK, Antwerp or – going back – Gent away.

Kane demands more of his teammates, and we don’t have many such players that prevent slacking – probably just Hojbjerg and to an extent, Lamela.

Yes he is at last Copping Himself On. Maybe he is sending out a message to his Future Employers ?

Perhaps he now realises his time is drawing to a close at Spurs and that he has decided to protect himself from being injured in games which we should win without him before his inevitable move to Man City.

I’d suggest it’s results like
Antwerp 1 Spurs 0
LASK 3 Spurs 3

Kane knows when he players we have a better chance of winning and he also knows that too many of his colleagues are not up to the levels required of a team that actually wins trophies. What was it he said in the Amazon doc team meeting, something along the lines of too many players not doing enough and waiting / expecting others to do it all.
