Mourinho open to Eriksen reunion, but his salary might scupper move

A return to Tottenham for Christian Eriksen is possible, even though he ignored Jose Mourinho to move to Inter Milan a year ago.

The Dane spent much of his time in London as one of the best players at Tottenham and the Lilywhites were keen to get him on a new contract instead of selling him.

He, however, asked to leave because he wanted a change of environment, and Inter beat his other suitors to his signature.

Eriksen has struggled for form at the Italian side, and they are now ready to sell him after just a year.

The likes of Arsenal and PSG have been linked with a move for him, however, Fabrizio Romano claims that Mourinho would be happy to welcome him back into his team.

He claimed that the Dane’s representatives are working to get him a new club and a move back to Tottenham isn’t ruled out.

The only problem with a return to his old stomping ground is his current salary at the Italian side.

He earns €7.5m/season after taxes, and Romano says that is one of the reasons why the move might not happen.

Talks are ongoing, but it isn’t at an advanced stage yet, and the midfielder favours a return to England.
