Mourinho Could Be Sacked After Palace Game According To The Telegraph

Matt Law for The Telegraph says José Mourinho has just 12 days to save his Tottenham career – with Julian Nagelsmann prepared to walk out on RB Leipzig mid-season to take over at struggling Spurs.

If this were all to be true, then it would be a particularly un-Levy course of action, for the following reasons.

1. Compensation for removing Mourinho from office would be horrific, somewhere approaching £40million.

2. Compensation demanded Red Bull Leipzig would also be a crippling number.

3. It would be a ballsy move by Nagelsmann to volunteer to participate in what is clearly a dysfunctional project.

4. This 12-day period makes no sense, beyond Wolfsberger, Burnley, Fulham, and Palace being matches one would presume we’d be successful in.

In conclusion, as many of us have discovered in recent weeks, this fits the anti-Mourinho narrative perfectly. When it comes to being entertained, I operate on a somewhat deeper level than the white noise end of the fan spectrum – so I’d be delighted to see this rumour come to be.

I can’t think of anything more entertaining than seeing Levy having failed to have backed Pochettino, wasted Mourinho’s time, and then blow millions trying to reset the club yet again – but this time – with over a billion pounds worth of debt, a squad that’s aged horribly since Pochettino first started.

Oh, and the threat, just a threat of up to 10,000 fans being allowed back into the Shopping Center, which won’t be able to function properly anyway because of social distancing protocols.

Now that would be entertaining.
