‘most likely man to come in…’ – Journalist now claims £25m rated ‘complete’ player could become Spurs’ 9th signing – opinion

Tottenham Hotspur are still looking for a new signing before the transfer deadline, according to journalist Dean Jones, with Yannick Carrasco thought to be the ‘most likely’ to sign.

Jones stated in a recent episode of Ranks FC that he believes that Spurs are leading the race to sign Atletico Madrid and Belgium star Carrasco. He said:

“Carrasco is the one that, as I say, has had the most hype in the last 24 hours, and right now kind of looks the most likely man to come in and fill this role in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation.”

Spurs already have a number of players who can play in the right wing-back position, including Spence, Matt Doherty, and Emerson Royal. However, signing Carrasco, who has been described as a “complete” player in the past, would undoubtedly improve the team.

The Belgium international is known for his versatility and high work rate. He scored six goals and provided seven assists last season for Atletico and it is the sort of goal contribution from the wing-back position that Conte will be looking for. Emerson Royal at the moment lacks that x-factor going forward and considering how important a role the wing-backs play in Conte’s system, Carrasco would be an excellent signing.

It has also been reported that Atletico Madrid are willing to let go of him for £25m, a fee well below his release clause in order to meet La Liga’s salary cap. So Spurs could actually be able to get him for half his value!
