Midfielder dreams of playing in England – Tottenham interested but face competition from Man Utd

French media outlet FootMercato is claiming that Tottenham and Man Utd are among the clubs interested in signing Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Apparently, the 27-year-old is keen to depart Spain and dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho is also said to be an admirer of the Central African Republic international as previously reported by Plaza Deportiva’s report.

So, we have reports from France and Spain in one form or another claiming that Kondogbia wants to leave his current club and play in England, that Tottenham are interested in him and Mourinho is a fan.

No fee has been mentioned, however, Sport Witness is claiming that Valencia themselves are pushing the player towards the exit door which would suggest that there is unlikely to be a premium on his valuation.

Transfermarkt value Kondogbia at €22.50m and based on what has been reported you have to think that he would come for a bit less than that.

I will be honest and admit I have seen little of the player and so cannot pass judgement on his abilities or what he would bring to Tottenham but if Mourinho likes him and he is available for a fee likely to be close to £15 million then it does sound like a bit of a bargain to me.

Obviously, with FootMercato also reporting that Man Utd are interested as well that does throw a bit of a spanner into the works, they do after all like to throw their money around.

Hopefully, Man Utd’s interest is not as strong as Tottenham’s and Mourinho gets a clear path to a player he apparently likes.
