Micky van de Ven names Tottenham teammate as player to watch out for

Micky van de Ven feels Tottenham fans should keep an eye on the performances of Cristian Romero this season.

The North London club have had a mixed start to the new season. While Ange Postecoglou’s team have been playing an attacking brand of football and they have dominated most oppositions, Tottenham haven’t always got the desired results. They suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Newcastle United which was a major blow. But, Spurs have bounced back with three wins in a row across competitions.

Micky van de Ven who was one of Postecoglou’s initial signings post his arrival from Celtic has established himself as an integral part of their first team. He has been a regular feature in the heart of the defence for the North London club alongside Argentine World Cup winner Cristian Romero. The Dutch defender has started alongside Romero at every opportunity available since arriving at the club and while speaking on Science in Sport, he talked quite highly about his defensive partner.

When asked about which players to keep an eye on, Van de Ven said while speaking to Science in Sport that the Tottenham faithful should keep an eye on Romero during the 2024/25 season. The 26-year-old centre-back who has attracted a lot of interest of late is going to be key if Spurs are to end their trophy drought under the leadership of Postecoglou.
Romero is one of the first names on the team sheet under the former Celtic manager.

Tottenham won 3-0 against Qarabag on their return to European football last night. The Argentine centre-back was suspended for the fixture following a red card that he picked up in a Champions League knockout tie against AC Milan back in the 2022/23 season. He will return to the starting lineup when Spurs square up against top-four rivals Manchester United in the league.
