Micky van de Ven has sent a two-word message regarding his fitness after he was forced off against Manchester City.

The Netherlands international lasted just 14 minutes before leaving the field in tears, appearing to clutch his hamstring.

It’s only a year since Van de Van — a player who relies on his pace — sustained a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for an extended period, while he also missed 14 games for Wolfsburg with a similar problem during the 2021/22 campaign.

“Micky felt something in his hamstring,” Postecoglou told reporters after the 2-1 EFL Cup victory. “I haven’t got the full update on him but he definitely felt something and we’ll see how he is.”

Van de Ven missed a total of 16 games last season due to hamstring problems, according to Transfermarkt.

With that in mind, you can forgive Spurs fans for worrying they’ll be without the speedy defender for another extended period.

However, Van de Ven’s message on social media in the wake of the injury suggests he won’t be out for too long at all.

“Back soon,” the Dutchman wrote on his Instagram story alongside an image of himself during the Man City game.

Tottenham have a vital Premier League clash with Aston Villa to prepare for this Sunday before they make the unenviable trip to Istanbul to face Turkish giants Galatasaray in the Europa League.

While they’re still perfect in Europe, the Lilywhites currently sit eighth in the Premier League table after recent defeats to Brighton and Crystal Palace in their last three games.

Already trailing the Champions League spots by five points, Spurs will hope to get Van de Ven back in action as soon as possible; especially with the busy festive period creeping into view.
