Many Of Tottenham’s Players Are Revolting And These Quotes Prove It

By The Boy -

When José took over, my heart was filled with joy. At last, the managerial stuck record had not just had the needle nudged along, someone had picked up the entire player and thrown it in the bin, cables, speakers, and all. The very happy press conferences and the endless droning from the most devout fans about Spurs building something (it turned out to be more debt than anyone could imagine) were all over.

On the heels of this brilliant turn for good, we had the revelation that Hotspur Way was full of nice boys, who needed to toughen up and be clever, not stupid bleeps.

Now, it emerges that there’s trouble in paradise, the dressing room is divided and the vile, nasty, awful Mourinho has been exposed for what many already knew him to be. The Athletic (£) announced this week that a source inside the club told them that Mourinho deeply unpopular with many players, thanks to his coaching methods, tactical overloads, and training that was less intensive and less attack orientated than Pochettino’s reign.

Sounds bad eh? What a vile, nasty, awful man Mourinho must be.

Ah, hang on, We’ve been here before. And it is remarkable Jack Pitt-Brooke who wrote the piece above, failed to mention that he also penned this piece in November 2019 for The Athletic, which was also fuelled by discontented voices within the Tottenham dressing room.

“It’s his way or nothing, there is no balance. The players don’t get the impression they are trusted at all.”

What we have here is mainly the same shower of overpaid, intellectually suspect prima donnas, whose hobbies include staring at themselves in the mirror and seeing who can spend the most money on a wristwatch. In all honesty, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a less likeable bunch of time wasters as professional footballers.

THFC’s blatant neglect in respect of churning the squad’s personnel has encouraged a culture that has fallen well beneath the expectations of the decent folk that facilitate their luxurious existence. No wonder Dele Alli’s brain is wired to ponder the merits of chocolate bars. It is precisely this sort of puerility you wouldn’t catch grown-ups like Pierre Hojbjerg or Harry Kane indulging in.

Good luck to all the writers pouring out speculation on Nagelsmann, or the alleged shortlisting of Rodgers, only adding to the white noise.

Spurs’ problem has never been its managers, good lord, one of the supposedly worst ones won a trophy!

The recurring problem is ENIC, whose only interest is in the football club operating profitably, in order that it could leverage huge expansions into diverse markets, in order to hopefully, eventually, make even more money.

Of course, some of us knew what ENIC were up to a long time ago, and didn’t need to wait until now to grasp it. When THFC ‘found’ £340million to add to the stadium build, it was crystal clear where their intentions truly lay.

I wouldn’t call, it ‘hate’ with Jose. He has been very arrogant over the course of his career, even during times when things haven’t been going well.

That rubs a lot of people up the wrong way, secondly many people don’t enjoy the way his teams play, especially when it isn’t bringing the results it once did.

Yes it’s a perception, perhaps an unfair one but mud sticks. Especially in politics and sport…

Another thing he told me was clubs give little support to help kids deal with day to day life. They’ve suddenly jumped from a life of low income to big money as a teenager, and they haven’t a clue how to deal with it or manage the transition (also a common issue with adult lottery winners). To appease parents & guardians and speed up decisions to sign, the clubs offer to look after the kids in every way to make their lives away from home easier.

Some clubs lay up liaisons who provide nothing short of a concierge service for players. There’s a well known story of a player calling his liaison in a panic for emergency assistance. When the liaison went out, the player was staring in confusion at a washing machine wondering how he could switch it on and how could he use it to wash clothes. He didn’t have the gumption to look at the manual or ask the installer for a quick run-through. Some of them have been unintentionally conditioned to have no interest in learning life lessons.

Of course they would have performed better.. Botch was playing mason and bentaleb and leaving Dembele on the bench for the first year.. Even in the final in 2015!.. Tom carroll and winks were prefered too at one stage.

I used to be suspicious that a lot of speculative “we understand such-and-such could be in line to replace somebody” stories tended to originate from outlets linked to Sky in an effort to help boost their betting market interests.
Nowadays, given how heavily involved bookmakers are in sponsoring sports news services across every media type, it’s hard to ignore the possibilities for manipulating speculation to increase viewers/readers/listeners along with generating betting market activity.

This was a rising problem back in the late 90s.. Makes sense its far worse now with more money involved.

Can’t reply on other thread.. But i did say ‘rather’, my mistake, but this was in simple logical context… Your claim that noone cares about the league cup and it was of less importance than top 6.. I assumed you were talking for yourself.. Obviously you would rather the most important! So my comment made complete sense.. Unless you would rather the least important…. If any team wins the league cup then they get automatic ropey league, taking over the 6th position in the prem (if they are not in top 6)… So the league cup is a title, with auto ropey league, overuling top 6……… Explain to me why you think this is less important than top 6.

I agree with the bit about the journalists. Unfortunately, it would not sell newspapers if on the back pages the headline was ‘Everything is fine at Spurs’. If they are not picking on a football club on the back pages, and some celebrity on the front pages, then papers would just not sell. I reckon many club chairman over the years have looked at the back pages and thought ‘Look what they are saying about our manager’, and then sacked him’ !!!

I’ve a family friend who spent a few years in the Premier League. He’ll be the first to tell you that one of the biggest problems with the younger generation of players is they’ll have an agent in one ear and a club liaison in the other, both continuously telling him he’s the best thing since sliced bread.

The vast majority of these lads come from working class backgrounds, so throw sudden money into the mix and most of them get an air of being an arrogant good time Charlie who believes the hype that they’re being fed.

It’s a long way from the days of working your way through an apprenticeship and shining the boots of the senior players.
Why on earth would this generation feel motivated by an aul fella in a tracksuit barking orders at them?

‘overpaid, intellectually suspect prima donnas, whose hobbies include staring at themselves in the mirror and seeing who can spend the most money on a wristwatch’

We’ve all known this for years, and it’s worse now than ever, especially with social media. However all managers have to cope with it, motivate, train and focus the players regardless.

That’s what they’re paid to do, and some are dealing with the ‘PlayStation’ generation better than others. Personally I’m not sure Jose has the patience for their brittle egos and Rizla thick skins.

Unfortunately, unless you can adapt and negotiate these issues, you won’t get a tune out of present day players. No club is going to finance a clear out and a refit of PEH clones to turn the clock back either.

No management is ever backed properly under Levy, however Jose is slightly out of step with the present which is exacerbating things…

It was the same when Sky kept pushing for Poch to United as if he’d instantly deliver more than the last few managers. At the time, Woodward was apparently playing transfer manager in much the same way as Levy, so why would Poch be any better with another tired squad and similar meddling in transfers from above?

Spot on. 13 managers over 22 years one minor trophy to show for it kind of tells its own story.

The new stadium cannot transform the expenditure on the team to any significant extent as it has generated almost 1bn of debt to build it. So while we can be solvent and operate, any ideas of any upward shift in expenditure on the team are surely based on fiction rather than fact.

It’s business as usual, two League Cups in 44 years? Fantastic.

I’m not sure it’s quite that simple.
To be fair to Levy, he may well be putting lads in the shop window, but they might not want to forgo a cushy contract if it means a drop in wage or a step down in standard.

I wonder does this say more about the professionalism of the players than it does about coaching methods. Actually, come to think of it, what are the sources of these stories, or are they just based on speculation by journos desperate to keep column inches?

Players moaning about training too much, not training enough defence, not training enough attack, etc…. whatever happened to tales of players driven to work on weak points in their spare time?
Remember Beckham, supposedly unhappy about the lack of time working with the dead ball, getting up off his arse and staying back an hour or two a day to do it himself? When is the last time you heard a Spurs player being talked about as being “first in, last out” on a consistent basis? Who is actually hungry for success?
Maybe I need my eyes adjusted, but I currently only see Hojbjerg prepared to give a pound of flesh for 3 points every minute he is on the pitch.

I’ve said it before, Levy could install a Jurassic Park clone of Bill Nicholson as manager, and it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference. As long as we have a tired squad and an administration with no appetite to hoover off the chequebook for a proper rebuild, it will always be a case of repeating the same thing and expecting a better result.

Levy doesn’t understand about people…moving players on is not just about talent its about timing, Eriksen was a good example of a player that needed to go two years before he did and Levy would’ve got a pretty penny..

It the same problem in every business. I have someone working for me that I’ve known and used to work with for 25 years. I wouldn’t get rid of him because he makes me money and is very good, however, i keep him away from anyone else as much as I can because he poisons them with his bad habits…I put up with it but I don’t want anyone else acting the same….

Well I agree, that is a cheeky little tickle, but it makes absolutely no sense for a hot name like him to abandon what is a fantastic project there to come to a mid-table trophyless club with a squad in need of serious surgery and a chairman who refuses to accept it’s his fault and has an itchy trigger finger.

Nags can (and will) do better.

“Players in bad run of form decide to blame manager” – shock!

If Levy sacks him and hires some up and coming wunderkid then hilarious – but ok fine, whois really the muppet in that scenario? Anyway, who really gives a toss, there will be the inevitable ‘bounce’ for the rest of the season, but we will be right back were we are this time next year.

Whatever!

He’s also horribly slow, doesn’t understand the reasons for getting new players in (as per the Amazon thing), and got slaughtered by Seamus Coleman, 32, the other day.

Not a player with fire in his belly – in fact, apathy is what comes to mind when I think of him. We need warriors.

It’s true about the likeability and relatability of most of the players, and it translates to most of football in my case. England teams too. There’s little there to get behind, can’t relate to em, no passion or character, when you look at what players were….leaders, emotionally invested, look at the Euro 96 England team….men. characters. Back further, Bryan Robson, Mcmahon, Perryman, Gazza of course, just caught up in the love of it. Immersed. Even Paul Allen was infectious despite some technical shortcomings….different time, imasculation , money and molly coddling has changed it. Plus your expected to pay 80 odd sovs for the pleasure!?

Gotta keep with JM for now… give him a chance… and maybe (just maybe) give him another season if he wins no cups and doesn’t reach Champions League… just to see what he can do in a normal season (crowds back next season) and with another 2-3 players in and out. However, cant fail to be enthused about Nagelsmann (possibly a better version of ‘Poch’)

We have indulged the current crop of players enough. On other sites (and sometimes even with posters here) Dele, Winks, Dier and others are still given an easy ride, while the reality is that they never pushed on, never evolved and still play the same limited stuff they did when they came into the team as young prospects – only now, they’re even worse than at the start (Winks is probably the same).

The players threw Poch under the bus and seem ready to do the same to Mourinho because he’s “too defensive”? Newsflash – if you knew how to defend, he wouldn’t need to focus on that so much in training. Plus, you STILL can’t defend even after over a year with one of the best defensive managers in charge, and you couldn’t defend in the late Poch era either, which shows some introspection might be in order, rather than whining to the press.

If I was a player and saw the way Kane (or Hojbjerg) goes about business, always demanding more of himself and others and taking responsibility, I would look to him and try my best to emulate him. Kane evolved from being “just” a brilliant finisher to probably our best passer and a brilliant defensive player – the perfect all-around player I would trust to start almost anywhere on the pitch, while Winks stagnated and Dele, Dier, Sanchez, Davies and probably others regressed.

Out with the deadwood, in with honest adults ready to work hard, listen to the boss and improve themselves.

Back the manager.

For Levy to stick with Jose and adopt this method would involve giving Jose who/ what the guy wants. This will involve a lot of money, so it becomes a Catch 22 scenario.

Quoting a second rate journo who writes anything but the truth is only highlighting the nonsense the fans/public have to put up with.
How such articles are interpreted is up to the individual, but the majority of people it seems just believe what they read without knowing the real facts.
I have read a few negative pieces regarding this club’s finest ever player in Gareth Bale on here, which the lemmings have uttered ridiculous nonsensical comments of support in reply to what the article has viciously stated.
The shoe being on the other foot appears to be the way now, as Mourinho is being targeted by our wonderfully unbiased media, and in his defence this place is churning out piece after piece of unbridled backing and support.
I believe any form of criticism and negative press about the club is depressing to see, and Spurs have been at the forefront of such journalistic rubbish for too long, but because of the image the club portrays it is an easy target, however you can’t have it both ways .

‘I don’t like the way the serial winner trains us’ sob sob. It would be great if Levy actually stuck with Jose and said, you know what if you don’t like the serial winners training methods – there’s the door! It is always the manager that falls on his sword when players down tools. Jose needs to be allowed to build on characters like PEH. I have my doubts about dressing room unrest, I’ll bet its just one or two fringe players like Winks and Dele whinging to their agents.

Manager is part of the puzzle, would Klopp have had performed better than Poch or Jose, very likely ofcourse not. Even the remit of reinvesting sales of players into the team is only really worth it, if the manager really gets to pick those choices.
