Manchester United identifies in-form star as a sweetener in their move for Kane

Manchester United is set to offer a player as a part of their bid to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.

The Red Devils have been boosted in their long-term pursuit of the England captain after he asked to leave Spurs.

Kane has been loyal to the Lilywhites all his career and remains one of the best players in England.

He is an ever-reliable goalscorer, but his goals and assists haven’t been enough to help Spurs end their trophy drought.

They cannot fault him for wanting to leave now and he will not lack suitors for his signature.

Manchester City and United have been named front runners for his signature, and the latter is keen to win the race.

The Times say United wants to include Jesse Lingard in their bid for his signature to soften the loss of Kane for Spurs.

Lingard has spent this second half of the season out on loan at West Ham and he has been in fine form for the Hammers.

The 28-year-old has 9 goals and 5 assists from 15 Premier League games this season.

He would still struggle to play for United next season, but he could contribute tellingly at Tottenham.
