Manager with consecutive league titles urged to ‘go manage Spurs’ next season

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks and BBC pundit Phil Brown has now urged the Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou to take over at the north London club.

The 57-year-old manager has turned an exceptional job at Celtic since taking over and he has helped them win four trophies in the last two seasons including two league titles.

His attacking approach has garnered a lot of praise access Celtic and he could prove to be the ideal fit for Tottenham as well.

Brown said on BBC5 Live: “Go manage Spurs. I listened to both of you [Robbie Savage and Chris Sutton] and it’s a great argument.

“At the same time, he’s won it at Celtic, he’s won in it Scotland, move on to a bigger league, no disrespect to Scotland.

“I know he’s in the Champions League, but at the same time, you’ve got a chance of winning something next year.

“I think the Harry Kane situation is going to be difficult for any manager that comes in because he’s got to try and keep hold of Harry Kane next season and I don’t think he will.”

The north London giants have quality attackers at their disposal and they need a manager who can get the best out of them.

Players like Son Heung-min and Richarlison have been underwhelming over the last few months and someone like Postecoglou could get them back to their best once again.

The opportunity to manage in the Premier League will be an attractive option for the Australian manager and he is likely to be tempted to join Tottenham.

Spurs will need to bring in a quality replacement for Antonio Conte soon, especially with the futures of key players like Harry Kane on the line. Kane will want the club to demonstrate some ambition in the choice of managerial appointment before he commits his long-term future to the club.

It will be interesting to see if Postecoglou can convince the England international to continue at Tottenham beyond this season.

The Australian certainly has the ability to succeed in the English top flight and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.
