Major Tottenham target tests positive for Covid-19

Tottenham target, Milan Skriniar has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with the Slovakian national team, reports the Daily Mail.

The defender was Tottenham’s top defensive target all summer as the Lilywhites looked to land a new defender.

Spurs struggled to agree to a deal for him and the transfer window closed with him remaining at the San Siro.

The defender was due to face the Republic Ireland in the Euro semifinal playoff, a game that will have seen him face Matt Doherty, but he will miss it.

He will be a big miss for the European nation who will also be without the services of Martin Dubravka, and Stanislav Lobotka.

Skriniar has been a long-term target of Jose Mourinho who has wanted to sign him since he managed Manchester United.

The Special One might still maintain his interest in the defender when the next transfer window comes around.

Spurs have had to look elsewhere for a new centre-back, but the Lilywhites are limited in their options now that the international transfer window has closed.

They have been linked with a move for Swansea’s Joe Rodon whom they can still sign between now and the end of the domestic transfer window in six days.
