Maguire ODDS-ON to NOT start v Iran Southgate ODDS-ON to be gone after World Cup

By The Boy -

HARRY MAGUIRE IS ODDS-ON to NOT start England’s opener against Iran, according to Ladbrokes. After a poor start at club level this season and having given away a penalty against Germany, the bookies have slashed odds to just 8/11 on him missing out on Gareth Southgate’s opening XI in Qatar.

As for Southgate himself, the bookies make him odds-on at 2/5 to NOT be managing England’s first game after the World Cup, while 7/4 says he is.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told The Boy Hotspur: “Things couldn’t have gone much worse for Gareth Southgate as far as World Cup preparations have gone, and the odds suggest this could be his last tournament as England boss.”

He added: “Elsewhere, despite seemingly having the backing of his international boss up to this point, it looks like last night’s error might just have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for Harry Maguire’s chances of starting against Iran.”

The only catch is that it can only be rebuilt with English players… 😂

I even think the penalty shootout takers against Italy last year were chosen based on an agenda.

Yep. That’s how you get success now. Peddle the agendas. Bunch of worthless puppets.
Ivan Toney needs to talk about how racist everything is, then he’ll get a start.

And Dier got back in the England squad. How predictable. I might do a you tube video on climate change or summin and put myself on the plane to Qatar.

Not even the best manager in the world would win anything with England. They’re just not good enough, yet the penny is still yet to drop in some quarters. Bit like people who make excuses for Levy, deluded and completely unaware of their surroundings, at worst slightly backward.

Pope was nearly caught out twice in first few minutes. Each time he was approached by a German in a white shirt and did nothing to hasten his kick. I think he subconsciously thought England were playing in white. If you get a chance watch it again. No, I’m not crazy.

Southgate is just a yes man to the FA. He was a risk adverse player and is the same as a manager.

He says he will pick and play players based on form and then plays Shaw & Maguire.

Another decade of players of a golden era going to waste like the previous lot did.

I’m no fan of England or international football anymore. Meaningless friendlies and leagues just get in the way of club football now.

Maybe the FA can ask the Prem clubs to rest the players before the WC like Argentina wants but he won’t need to ask United for Maguire.

Not sure he wasn’t the best player on the pitch. He was always looking to break forward and not taking the sideways, backwards option. I’m not surprised that he appears to be Klopp’s primary target.

Ever since he was canonised when the BLM movement came about it seems he has been above criticism. You never hear any commentators calling him out for a bad performance. It seems he is above reproach.

Well the simple fact is,he is not that good and because he feels that Kane is the main man,if he does pass to Kane the ball is either under or over hit.

As it is unlikely that the FA would bladder the manager before November,to regain some of the fans’ trust Southgate needs to be ruthless in his squad selection for Qatar.

That means picking players on form and not those that can’t even get into their club side.He must decide on the formation and tactics that suit the players he has and not try to fit round pegs into square holes.

So often players never reproduce their club form for England, because the system doesn’t best utilise their talents.TAA is a case in point, although I think James is possibly a better all round defender.

i felt really sorry for Toney in this break. He was so chuffed at being finally chosen to represent his country, yet Southgate treated him abysmally. He must have been gutted last night, not to get on in what was in effect a meaningless game.He would have scored that penalty too if he had replaced Kane.

I can’t say I have a lot of hope or interest in this upcoming WC.

I would break the bank for Bellingham. He looks a better player than Declan Rice. It’s a shame we will never sign a player of that quality.

Sterling’s continued inclusion and good rep among England fans baffles me completely.

I was saying the same thing re Kane. Pointless game, but still he plays all of it. Why not test Toney and see if he has something to offer?

Sterling needs dropping in favor of a decent AM (Grealish?) who is not adverse to passing to Kane.

Reece James is a beast and I’d imagine him beating his man and whipping one in for Kane (or Toney) could be a lot of fun. Shame he’s probably instructed not to do it.

Maguire probably has pictures of Southgate fiddling kids, otherwise I have no explanation. Staggeringly poor player. Makes Dier look like Maldini.

Maguire was at fault for the second goal when he was caught in possession. He has the turning speed of the Lusitania and shouldn’t be going to Qatar. England remind me of Spurs in some ways. I always feel that English teams, whether they be club or international teams do not find playing three at the back a comfortable tactic. Furthermore, England and Spurs play with two holding midfielders and neither of the teams seem to either have the right personnel to play with an attacking midfield player or the inclination to do so. To even think that England might win the World Cup is complete fantasy. We have completely regressed under Southgate. Both his team selections and tactics do not stand up to scrutiny and God only knows what he was thinking when he chose the last three penalty takers in the Uefa Euro final against Italy in 2020. How can any supporter have any confidence in a man who wears the perpetual puzzled expression of a primary school maths teacher who cannot answer a question posed by one of his class? The fact that he continues to select Maguire who has been dropped by Utd is bad enough but why does he continue to flog Kane into the ground? Why did he not give Toney some decent game time last night? Southgate will be gone after the World Cup unless he wins it.

Yep. Starting with Southgate and the whole English FA board.

He also needs to drop Sterling. No quality at all. We were a different team when he was subbed.
