“Lukaku will go wherever Antonio Conte goes,” Pundit tips Spurs to land goal machine

Tottenham has been tipped to land Romelu Lukaku if they succeed in hiring Antonio Conte as their next manager.

The Lilywhites remain managerless, but that should change soon with reports claiming that they are in talks with serial winner, Antonio Conte.

Conte won the Premier League with Chelsea and another Serie A with Inter Milan last season.

He left the Italian side by mutual consent recently as they struggle financially and he is free to join another club.

Spurs had been targeting the likes of Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann, but they haven’t been successful in convincing either to move to London.

Conte now looks like the most likely candidate to lead them into next season and he just might come with a striker.

Spurs could be forced to cash in on Harry Kane and former Premier League goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop, reckons that Lukaku might follow Conte back to London having thrived under the manager in Italy.

“I will say that Romelu Lukaku will go wherever Antonio Conte goes,” Hislop told ESPN FC’s online channel as quoted by The Express.

“If come August Antonio Conte isn’t in a full-time position, Lukaku stays at Inter until he is and until the transfer window opens up, that allows those starts to again realign.

“So we can speculate about Romelu Lukaku all we like, and I think there will be no shortage of suitors this summer.

“But ultimately Lukaku will want to go back with Antonio Conte where Conte got so much out of him and Lukaku has been totally transformed as a player, both on the field, how he’s received, and how the press and the media speaks about him.

“Everything about Lukaku over the past couple of years I think has been down to that partnership with Antonio Conte. He’ll want to renew that.

“Wherever Conte goes, Lukaku’s going.”
