Our plausible Spurs XI for semi final showcases ENIC’s faith in youth

Tottenham face what is arguably our biggest game of the season tonight as they head north-west to Anfield to take on the league leaders for a place in the Carabao Cup final, a trophy they won some seventeen years ago, against then-favourites, Chelsea.

Much hope has been placed on Ange Postecoglou to win this evening, after all, it is his second season, and he has been rewarded with several popular signings in the January window. However, Arne Slot’s Liverpool are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table and are cruising through to the Champions League last 16, this is not an opponent to be underestimated.

Spurs remain dogged by injury, and the latest to join the packed physio room at Hotspur Way was Radu Dragusin whose season is now over after sustaining an injury against Brentford.

Micky van de Ven is not really any closer to making a meaningful contribution after Ange acknowledged his recovery was far from complete. This, combined with what feels like a very slow return from Cristian Romero, doesn’t augur well, and again the Aussie has constructed a backline from players he may not have marked down as first-choice players.

That said, Djed Spence has been outstanding and rightly received a man-of-the-match award last time out.

Our midfield is another concern, with all eyes being on Bentancur and Bissouma, who will be up against an unforgiving Liverpool side.

Richarlison is likely to revel in this one, and for Sonny, this is a massive test of his legs.

Spurs are tipped to lose this one, with some offices offering prices as long as 11/1 whereas the hosts are as short as 1/6. On the BBC this morning, a poll indicated that 68% of participants fancied a Liverpool win.

Can Spurs prove most people wrong, in tonight’s big match, and make it to a final?
