I don’t understand how on a NLD the manager cannot get the players up for the game.
The first half was an absolute disgrace.
The players and the Manager should be donating their wages to good causes because they are robbing the fans.
How we still play Doherty, we have had some poor full backs over the years but it would difficult to find someone worse than him. He offers nothing, can’t defend and his use of the ball is embarrassing.
Throw Tangana in instead of Sanchez.
We had no midfield and the front four wandered around the pitch, they were far too slow pressing, didn’t even seem interested.
Ndombele is wasted as a deep lying midfielder, you need PEH plus one other to free Tanguy up to get involved further up the pitch.
How many performances do we see like this, rubbish and then a desperate push in the last minutes. This is the reverse from our other MO, a fast start, go a goal in front and give up possession and sit back.
We beat rubbish teams, that’s it, we don’t turn up otherwise. If anyone can tell me what our tactics were today, as yet again we looked absolutely clueless.

We’re a mid-table outfit at the moment. We can beat the bottom 8-10 teams, haven’t got much of a snifff against the top 4 and have a puncher’s chance against the rest. However we do charge the highest ticket prices in the league (perhaps Europe?), have the best stadium and training facilities in the league and have the longest bar in Europe. A phrase containing cart and horse springs to mind.
They don’t press or pass well enough at this level anymore. We’ve had half the season of low-block, no wonder they’re not particularly good at either defending or attacking.
They look like they have no identity now, a coach of Jose’s style was never going to be right for this group of players. Seeing as Levy won’t be clearing them out and rebuilding anytime soon, what was the point?
Levy clearly won’t finance any sort of concerted effort to go big and step it up.
Pochettino did what he did with a young group of players, they weren’t refreshed and became not young anymore and stale. No doubt Levy expected Jose to come in and sort them out. Well, for whatever reason he can’t and don’t expect Levy to back him properly, it’s not working out.
It’s ENIC, they’re wasting everyone’s time…

Spurs didnt look up for it today. There were plenty of talking heads that made us favourites despite our dreadful record away to Arsenal. I think we believed our own hype after beating 5 mediocre teams and had the airs of a team that thought it just had to turn up.
Spurs are not mentally weak. They don’t have enough quality to win the big trophies. Just think how Man Utd, Chelsea and City became winners. They didn’t develop a mentality, they bought better players and started winning trophies.
Midfield were awful. Ndom the Savior is a con artist.

Everyone goes on about how poor our defensive players are but we lost by the odd goal in the end, probably could have been more. However,
Digging the defenders out whenever we lose (generally to defend the management) shows a degree of ignorance of the fact that the game is also about attacking prowess and the creation of chances.
My point being that Son and Kane are the envy of the league (ok Sonny went off) but we only managed one shot on goal for three quarters of the match and 6 in all.
So the defenders “just aren’t good enough’ but what about our forward line and midfield that get six shots away to their 14 or whatever? They’re not good enough either? Kane, Son, Lamela, Tangy and PEH not fit for purpose?
Sorry, but using the defenders as an excuse for every single defeat, regardless of the nature of it or how poorly the whole team may have played, isn’t for grown ups…

We’ve been mentally weak as a club for 20+ years and ENIC are happy to tolerate on field mediocrity as long as the balance sheet stays strong. Not a recipe for success. Maybe that’s what Mourinho meant when he said there are problems at the club that he can’t fix.
If we had played well and got beaten by a good team I couldn’t argue. But today we were terrible, they were better than us, but by no means unbeatable. The ref was conned twice and we cannot do worse. Then again…..

Arsenal are not a good team, but they played with greater energy, better tactics and wanted to win it
In fact if anything I’d argue that his starting line-up suggests that being defensive was actually not the plan at all. I think the players just crumbled
I think it’s too easy to say that this was down to Jose telling them to pass sideways and backwards and basically have 1 attempt on goal in an hour, vs the more likely scenario that they were out-hussled and outplayed.
Yes, Jose could have brought Serge on for Doco, but would that constitute polishing turds?

Arsenal were better than us, but they were hardly sparkling. We allowed them to have far too much possession. For us to not exploit their weakness. their defense, is indefensible.

gossamer thin bench plus starting (and not swiftly removing) doherty aside, the team was paper strong. sure, it’s all relative. but against a implosion-prone defence what other master tactician would have sat back and hoped? abysmal tactically. £15m p.a. added to whatever the arse threw into the pot to keep the right side unguarded. turn out the light when you go mourinho. take enic with you

Bottom line is that Arse pressed high and fast and our back line simply couldn’t handle it, this resulted in a “get rid of it” hoof up to the centre circle, and not sure I remember us winning any of these punts.
There is no excuse for that performance. We started the game without any intensity or desire. A game we needed to win and an NLD. Within the first 15 mins, you knew we were not at the races. That to me is the end of Kane and Son. Son will be out for several weeks I suspect. Kane was clearly carrying an injury and Bale just didn’t show. This was the moment for him to really cement his return to form and he looks disinterested. However, how it is possible that Docherty was allowed to play the full 90 mins? That is a damming indictment of Mourinho.He should have been replaced with Aurier at halftime or if Aurier is not fit enough Sissoko should have covered and Bale should have stayed on. At least he can be a threat from free-kicks. Ali adds nothing. Lamela is a loose cannon despite his good form of late. Ndombele needs another good kick up the ar*e as he was just not bothered today. Without CL cannot see Mourinho here next season. Kane will be gone, Son will follow. Bale will go back to RM to see out his contract.

And that’s not even a bookable. Lamela has it in him to be reckless but that was nothing. We are awful and got what we deserve. 100 plus goals, mostly against nobodies masks nothing for me.
Nothing has changed since the 5 defeats in 6. We are not very good apart from 2 genuinely top class players. Beating the Burnley’s of this world shouldn’t allow supporters to get carried away.

Typical Spurs. Crash and burn whenever you need to get a result. This is a performance that is despairing. How can so many of our top players fail to even show for this match a NLD and a chance to push towards a top-four challenge?
Sorry… But players play how they train. Them sitting back is trained. Like why do we attack until we lead? That is tactical. Yes, the players have been awful, but the rest is tactical.
Not turning up for this match is unacceptable no matter what..you could tell after 10mins the game plan and set up was all wrong…I never expected us to get top 4 and still don’t, but I also cant see us winning anything if this is how they play for our NLD…not a chance….the only club for Jose never to win a trophy…lets see..

Just when you go on a nice run and you get your hopes up you get a kick in the proverbial.
I’m pretty sure Jose didn’t tell them to go out and all play sh**e today. I’m equally sure he didn’t tell to sit back and hope for the best either. Sometimes we have to look at our players’ mentality. Lots of them don’t have the mental fortitude to be winners.
