I think people are understandably drunk on the pragmatism of early substitutions. After five years of Poch leaving it till the 80th minute; that kind of thing is like a breath of minty fresh air.

I’m also reluctant to get too excited during José’s honeymoon period, but I’ll happily take winning for now. He’s barely been here a week and is still getting to know the squad.

José may have an ego the size of Uranus, and that no doubt contributed to his downfall at Manure, but he’s highly intelligent and willing to do whatever it takes to win -even if that means addressing his own demeanor. I have no doubt he learned from the experience and that added wisdom is to our benefit.

Too early to tell really, he needs some time. From what I’ve seen, when we play the likes of Liverpool and Citeh his methods invite pressure and our defence isn’t used to sitting in.

I might be wrong but I envisage problems if he uses the tactics he employed at Manure with this squad. Also, if his tactics are so water tight and effective, why couldn’t he sort Utd out?

Not convinced at all yet, but happy to be proven wrong. We’ve seen enough of Jose over the years to know what to expect. If he brings in Matic in January for example, then you know he’s got no plan b whatsoever….

Can’t fathom the all the praise for Jose. He got the team selection wrong and had to bail on it when a team that isn’t very good and should av been beaten at ‘home’ was 2 nil up. No doubt even with Poch the team would have beaten these 2 poor sides.
The performance stinks of dogeyness anyway. The way they forgot how to play in the 1st half and then suddenly blitzed em.

I have a prediction that Jose is going to end up loving Eriksen.

For an attacking midfielder, he is quietly a really hard working defender. This is something that Jose has criticised almost every attacking midfielder he has ever managed. I keep harping back to the second leg against City where he saved two goals in the second half by tracking runners and blocking certain goals. That was not a fluke, If you watch him when our opponents are counterattacking, he is always one of the first midfielders getting back to the box to defend.

I personally think that Eriksen waivered on signing under Poch because 1) he hated playing the back of the diamond because he couldn’t influence matches from there and 2) he saw that Poch was tactically inept and not capable of winning anything big – I think at this point in his life, all Eriksen wants is to win trophies.

I found it fascinating that Jose did not let Rose go past midfield – not even one time!, But he let Aurier go forward. In the past, this was Mourinho 101, until you can prove that you are rock solid in defence, you are not allowed to attack. But, Aurier is a much bigger mess than Rose is so I do not quite understand what he is doing.

Easily muscled out of it Sanchez is a problem!

Nice to see a revitalised Jose getting his mojo back must restore Eriksen to the starting line up.

Well done Maureen with the tactical changes, that was good. The approach is very static though, that caused big problems in the first half. You keep asking yourself why they’re not closing the opposition down, it’s a reactive approach defensively.

2nd half a different animal. The thing with Maureen is he doesn’t fak about. 2 nil down and he kicks into gear changing things around with subs. The gift goal eased tensions and set up a half time lecture to pull their fingers out. They did and won.
