Lionel Scaloni confirms no Argentine Premier League players will be leaving this international window

The FIFA international window is here, and various Premier League players traveled over to South America for the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers.

As the players departed, Premier League clubs were hopeful that they could retrieve their players after two fixtures. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case, at least for the Argentine players.

National team manager Lionel Scaloni confirmed during his press conference, where The Daily Mail relayed his comments regarding the players who are in his squad will be there for all three matches.

‘We are not going to do the same as last time with the Premier League players,” Scaloni said. “Before the game with Venezuela, I said that they came to play all three games, but the players raised a difficult decision for me, and I understood it, I released them. Now the players are here to play the three games. Under no point of view, they will leave earlier.”

For Tottenham Hotspur, it means that Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero won’t be leaving for north London until Argentina’s last match on Oct. 14th against Peru. Tottenham’s next fixture will be Oct. 17th versus Newcastle United.

As a result, these two players will miss the first match back from the international window as they still have to quarantine for ten days but can train and play if they are fully vaccinated.
