Tottenham Hotspur are now closing in on the capture of the Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.
According to a report from De Telegraaf, the Premier League side will now look to secure an agreement with the German club before the player can undergo a medical with the Londoners.
Apparently, the player’s father and his agent recently travelled to London for transfer talks and the defender had an ‘excellent feeling’ about the meeting with the Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou.
It seems that the 22-year-old is convinced about the project at the London club and he is ready to join them.
The player has already secured an agreement regarding personal terms and the two parties are now waiting for Tottenham to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg.
The report further states that Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy has been ‘too fast’ for the other competitors. Apparently, clubs like Liverpool and Bayern Munich were keen on signing the 22-year-old defender as well.
However, Tottenham have acted quickly to steal a march on their rivals.
Tottenham are in desperate need of defensive reinforcement and van de Ven should prove to be a quality acquisition.
The 22-year-old is an excellent reader of the game, and he will add distribution skills and pace to the Tottenham backline as well.
It remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the Premier League quickly and make an immediate impact next season.
The 22-year-old is likely to partner Cristian Romero at the heart of Tottenham’s defence next season.
