Levy Should Sack Mourinho Immediately If Not Sooner – Opinion

By The Boy -

Now is Daniel Levy’s time to leap into action and lead from the front, to remind all his faithful supporters that he is still as razor-sharp as he ever was at running this club, one that was absolutely nothing before he took it by the scruff of its neck.

Hiring José Mourinho was an out-of-character move by our illustrious CEO, almost as if the great man knew in his heart of hearts that dispensing with Mauricio Pochettino was a mistake.

It is clear now for all to see that Mourinho is a busted flush, a dinosaur, the Portuguese Pulis that many brighter and younger fans called him out for being, while I was foolishly defending the indefensible.

Who should replace the Portuguese? One would imagine that the queue of coaches willing to add their names to the list would be a long one. Brendan Rodgers must be keen to get out of the quite dreadful Leicester City, and Julian Nagelsmann must also be itching to unshackle himself from Red Bull Leipzig, a side he has clearly outgrown.

There’s no doubt about it, even though most of these Spurs players cost Poch his job, and are now repeating history with the current gaffer, Levy really ought to act, if only to provide us all with a good laugh, with his next thrilling instalment of ‘How To Run A Football Club Like No Other’.

I, for one, cannot wait for the next successful chapter.

“looking back” this is where you and differ. Looking forward is where I’m at. you see only “two cups” in the last 20 years. I see loads more than that in the next 20. I said it will take about 5 years to get this thing moving properly and I’m sticking by it. Not even two years in and you expect it all right now. I don’t. A bit more time at the new lane is needed. 2025 I’ll be a very happy spurs fan forever. You will too. Expect a big fat “I TOLD YA” coming from me.

He also said that he needed time to install his winning mentality. After two or three years he stopped churning out his winning philosophy talk because he was failing to win anything……. The change of job name and brave talk was AFTER the CL final around the 6th year mark!… Before that he was ‘berry appy’ for half a decade… 27 players he signed and he released over 40.. You bang on about what Botch said in one press conference! Ignoring his previous 5 years of failure! He was top 6 of spending and spent hundreds of millions at spurs and saints…….. Botch was leaving if he won the CL final.. What kind of Leader, Boss, manager tells his team he is going to walk out on them if they win? Great coach but he couldn’t manage an orgy in a brothel.

Maureen hasn’t given up. Winners don’t give up… Our seasons not over yet.. The ropey and the league cup would be a nice double and give us CL next year… Talk of giving up in feb when we still have comps to play and in a final for sure…. Wimpy losers talk… Pathetic mentality… Up the yids.

We had the better team when the foxes won the league. The best defence and the golden boot winner. Poor managerial decisions, refusing to change tactics, and late ineffective subs were the main reasons we lost that.. Tintin and dele visably bottled it towards the end… Botch botched it.. Even while throwing cups in the process.

😂 Funny stuff… I only saw the highlights but the Spam result was painful.. Foden is a beast and Moyes has built a tidy team there very swiftly.. We were unlucky though hitting the woodwork twice. And surely the guy next to Lingaard was offside, no he didn’t touch the ball, but he was running right alongside the pair, certainly giving both the keeper and defender something to think about. It was interfering with play all day in both players line of sight. So that goal should have been disallowed.. And I also thought that Reg was fouled in the build up to their other goal. He was steamrolled to the floor while stood still in position! Neither of their goals should have stood if you watch again….. Towards the end can’t fault the lads.. The effort was their… And more Bale please… And take Kane off free kicks when Bales on the pitch……. Same as the scouse, our seasons a write off now… Win the ropey now to get CL.. And the league cup will do too…… Just to make it a double.. Onwards and upwards.

Looking back, that looks more and more like some kind of Argentine sarcasm by the day. he also said that the squad needed players, that we needed to be brave, that his job description should be changed. You ignore all that to back up whatever it is you’re going on about.

still blaming the last manager isn’t washing anymore, he’s been gone over a year and a half. Give it up…

This could be the straw that broke Levy’s back. His financial gamble on Mourinho is fast becoming a disaster of epic (financial) proportions. Debt is mounting to the point of insolvency. Lewis is not going to be happy at losing over a billion on this donkey. After all, ENIC is PROPERTY DEVELOPER not interested in anything but the bottom line. Spurs were supposed to be the vehicle to fill his overpriced stadium development managed by Levy . The ship is sinking fast and to get rid of the captain and CEO will cost well over 30 million. The hot air currently flying between WHL and Lewis’ mega yacht somewhere in paradise would probably power NW17 for a whole year. Fourteen management changes in Levy’s tenure with nothing to show for it is probably wearing his (lewis’) patience thin. Harry and probably Sonny will have to be sold to shore up the finances leaving Spurs in a worse state of disarray and even less chance of filling his stadium. COVID certainly has not helped with the financial picture so hopefully we may see the back of this sorry bunch and Levy’s financial juggling. By now Lewis must be looking at deep pocketed foreign investors to get him out of the mess. So dear fellow fans today’s darkest dawn may possibly lead towards a brighter future with a better team capable of winning us some much needed silverware.

I don’t know that these players cost Poch his job. From where
I sit, Levy’s failure to refresh and reinforce a squad playing a style based on high intensity pressing, after years of running those players into the ground, is what cost Poch his job.

Wait until the summer, send him on his way. Rogers for me, though I have no idea why he’d want to leave Foxes and what looks to be CL football for them, when he know Levy won’t back a manager and we’ll have no CL football unless we somehow, against the odds, win the Europa.

Yes, your gut feeling is wrong as we will win more games this season and afraid Levy will always be the last man standing. Think Chelski have overtaken us on the manager front.

The defence is our Achilles heel and will continue until replaced. Rodon and Tanganga have no chance of improving so will just be average players

I got abuse on another site for just suggesting we need new ownership. 2 league cups in 30 years. Sugar & ENICs “success” says it all. I have said before about our weak mentality going back to even Burky & Bill Nich away from home especially. In the league if not cups. At the moment we cant spend big, but i was depressed today to see Lamela, Dier & Sanchez still playing. Just get shot. Surely Bale half fit is better than Lamela. He has proved that in last 3 games. Just go with aging Toby & Rodon & leave it , when you expect to lose to West Ham says it all. Jose is right to start at back , but you need quality. People who dont make schoolboy errors over & over

And how do the fans force them out? Only way ENIC/Levy are going is if someone comes in and pays £1.5bn+ and assumes the £1.2bn in debt for a total consideration of at least £2.7bn. There isn’t a chance in hell that’s happening any time soon especially with the state the club is in.

ENIC are not going anywhere fast. 5 defeats in 6 games is relegation form. At the moment we can only deal with the players we have and Jose’s selections have been poor. I think another manager could do much better and Potter seems to be doing this at Brighton with limited resources.

I haven’t seen anything about what Poch may have said about Levy but you can see already that Jose has given up. Quite. I believe Poch was quoted in a French paper over the weekend as (paraphrasing here) finding it impossible and a waste of time dealing with Levy. Mitchell was brought in as the buffer between Poch and Levy but Levy soon removed that lubricant so he could let Poch have the full. undiluted Levy experience! Mitchell knows Levy is not a football man.

Levy and ENIC should go before Mourinho, we all knew our defence would cost us this season, so why wasn’t money made available to strengthen the back line and Keeper positions. Lloris, Dier, Sanchez, Doherty, Davies and Aurier have to go, Alderweireld is at the age when he should go too really, the only defenders I’d keep are Reguilon, Rodon and Tanganga. We’ve had 20 years of ENIC and not a lot to show for it, who wants another 20 years? Money won’t be made available to sort what we need, Levy will probably sell Kane to finance the restructure of the defence but then we’ll be even shorter up front as we have never sorted Kane’s replacement. ENIC, Levy and Lewis have got to go first or we’ll get rid of Mourinho and the same thing will happen with whoever we bring in to replace Mourinho. Mourinho has won things everywhere he’s been apart from at Spurs, that will tell you all you need to know about ENIC and Levy.

Mourinho won’t go until the summer because of the cost. But it is still cheaper than buying players to improve the squad and that is the problem for any manager who comes in.
I see Levy realising the jig is up for Mourinho before long and he will sanction the sale of Kane and Son in the summer. This will raise funds for the club, but not necassarily to buy players, but to help clear the recently taken debt which is due for repayment.
We are in a heap of trouble moving forward and i don’t know what the answer is.Without a change of direction with a new manager, who would take the job.We need to restructure at the bottom to have a proper scouting system to find talented, hungry youngsters, because we can’t compete on transfers and wages.Unfortunately Levy is going nowhere.

Levy is a financier. He has built a great money-making empire. Best stadium in Europe for shopping, dining out, concerts, etc. Football is just a side-show, money-generating as long as Levy keeps it cost-effective. Avoid relegation, fill the stadium, sell shirts and other crap, but keep making money. Why win trophies or bring in top-class players? There is no money in that. He will fill the stadium if we are mid-table or if we win the treble. Bringing Bale in was a good PR move, sell shirts, sell posters, take kids’ pocket money for Bale-related crap but win trophies? Not a priority. Levy wanted Jose because they are similar characters, miserable, sour, bullies, and greedy. Levy pays himself a fortune – for what? I hope we do a Man City and sell the club to some multi-billionaire organisation that can see the potential of the stadium, but also want one of the best teams in Europe. How can we win anything with players like Doherty, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela? How can we keep Kane or Son? What will motivate Scarlett or Skipp or Devine? Not being bullied and derided by bully boy Jose. Oh God, 60 years of supporting Spurs and we still look like sh*t.

My take is that Tottenham’s short term future is in Harry Kane’s hands. If he stays it will only be with a guarantee that a proper rebuild begins in the summer. What are the chances of that? I don’t know.

If Kane wants to leave Son will follow. We all see how Sonny has become a shadow of himself when Harry doesn’t play.

If those two leave that’s officially the end of Project Poch. It will take a massive clearing out and a proper rebuild. What are the chances of that. I don’t know. Back to square one again.

We all know the financial situation, including Mourinho who took the job and negotiated an incredible contract that included a severance package that is probably unrivalled to others in the game.
This means he has Levy backed into a corner with little room for manoeuvre, should he want to dismiss Mourinho, something I find surprising to say the least.
I just cannot get my head round the style of play he has insisted on using despite players being uncomfortable in it, and the negative effect of leaving players out for reasons only truly known to the man himself.
The sad fact is that his methods of tactics, man management and his whole approach in how he deals with players is simply not working.
I am not sure of the quality of the squad and what it ultimately can achieve but looking from the outside in, I don’t believe players are happy, however they are professional and I am confident they are doing their best.
I do believe this squad should be capable to challenge for a top four spot , but that looks highly unlikely now, no doubt there will be various excuses made for the loss of form but I can’t look any further than the manager who has not performed as we all hoped for.
In the summer there will be monumental decisions to make regarding the manager and our top players, I’d prefer to keep the players.

The list of shambling incidents are way to lengthy to begin to catalogue. Some of us said at the time that the signingless windows would be a problem down the road. Albeit not immediately it cost poch. Levy is clueless style remade the same mistake sugar did with George Graham. Football is constantly evolving, these men did not. My personal belief is that there was more than a hint of pr involved in the signing. Further evidence of the clown at the helm can be found with the situation he backed himself into with sacking jose in terms of financial reasons. The man has not made a single decision that has been right for the club. Older readers know my thoughts about levy. They will never change. Unfortunately they are constantly proven correct. Jose is a has been and has never had to deal with anyone like levy. Nobody has. Levy puts a handbrake on the manager, the manager has to the team. Jose has not improved a single thing at that club. That is a fact. But the bottom line as Is always gonna be the way for spurs is until the criminals that steal from the club are gone the club will slowly reverse as its doing right now

The thing is the powers at the top at spurs know what they want. A successful club but if that means spending millions on players year in year out then no. The difference between finishing second in the cl final and winning is small when you have a stadium that holds the amount ours does and the prices fans are charged. As long as we get top four and good runs in the cl winning is not important to levy and Lewis. Problem is now we have exhausted nearly everything so will be interested to see what levy and the board do now. There is no money to sack Jose put in the right manager and give him the players he will want not that that ever happens at spurs. Levy we have a problem.

Sarcasm is not the lowest form of wit. Indeed it can be quite entertaining.
What else can you say about the Levy tenure? It’s only made more maddening by the fact that some fans think he’s done fabulous work for the club.

It is going to be a poor season which ever way you cut it. I do like the tongue in cheek article H -realistically and honestly who in their right mind would want the managers job at our club either now or even in 4 months time? The debt precludes strengthening the squad-whether intentional or otherwise this hangs over everything like all the best excuses; the squad precludes even the modicum of success-they have been truly awful; the manager is like a duck in a row of ducks at a fairground-just another temporary roadside attraction. Mess barely covers it tbh.

Let’s hope fans are let back in sooner rather than later..but I dont hold much hope otherwise.

Are we going to continue to sack a manager for how long? What has changed by firing managers, do Tottenham win anything? you sack a manager to achieve something what Spurs achieved after sacking so many managers for example Chelsea is the next London team that sacks managers but every manager they appointed have won a trophy for them except Frank I guess that shows the problem of Tottenham is nothing to do with the managers, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result you know what they call Tottenham needs a chairman who prioritises the football side of the business and allows the managers to get the players they want that can help them to win trophies and if they fail to be held accountable since it is their players until Tottenham hierarchy decides that do not expect to win anything, to be honest I do not think Mourinho will win any game the rest of the season that is my gut feeling I could be wrong.

Nagelsmann would be a good pick – what does it matter he got done 5-0 at Old Trafford and 2-0 at home by a Liverpool in freefall?

If not him, then Hasenhüttl and his record of losing 9-0 not once, but twice inside a year surely warrants consideration.
