“Leading the race” – Spurs insider confirms serious interest in player with 25 goals & 13 assists; talks ongoing

Tottenham’s highly-rated young midfielder, Alfie Devine, is on the brink of securing a loan move to Belgium, with Westerlo leading the race for his signature.

Despite the Premier League transfer window closing, Belgian clubs still have time to complete deals, making a move to the Belgian Pro League a likely next step for Devine.

According to Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe, Westerlo have shown significant interest in signing the 20-year-old on loan, with talks progressing well.

While other Belgian clubs are also keen on Devine, Westerlo are currently in pole position to land the talented midfielder.

O’Keefe shared the update on X, stating:

“Alfie Devine subject to serious interest from Westerlo in Belgium who are leading the race for him to join on loan. Talks continue. Other interested parties in Belgium too.”

Should the deal be finalised, Devine will join a Westerlo side that is keen to integrate young talents into their squad, offering him valuable first-team experience in a competitive league.

This move would also position him alongside Luka Vuskovic, another promising youngster set to join Tottenham next year.

Devine, who signed with Tottenham from Wigan Athletic in 2020 for around £300,000, has only made two senior appearances for Spurs but has already left a mark by becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer in January 2021.

His potential was further seen during loan spells at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle last season, where he contributed three goals and six assists in 43 appearances.

Devine’s performances with Tottenham’s U21s have been equally impressive, with 13 goals and seven assists in 49 games. Overall, he has amassed 25 goals and 13 assists in 116 appearances across all levels. (Transfermarkt)

While a proposed loan move to Birmingham City fell through on transfer deadline day, Tottenham remain keen to find the right club for Devine to continue his development.

With his contract running until June 2027, a successful stint in Belgium could be a crucial step in his journey to becoming a regular in Tottenham’s first team.
