Latest: Spurs have ‘submitted offer’ for world class defender but Real Madrid plan to hijack the deal

According to Football Insider‘s source, Real Madrid are ready to beat Tottenham to the signing of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.

The 27-year-old centre-back is in the final year of his contract and could leave for free at the end of the season if a new deal with the Italian giants cannot be reached.

The report states that Inter rejected offers for Skriniar from PSG in the summer, while Tottenham and Chelsea also ‘submitted offer’ for him in the previous window.

As covered in our earlier report, Spurs remain interested in the Inter Milan star and Fabio Paratici has been tipped to pull off a deal to sign him on a free next summer.

However, according to the latest rumours, Real Madrid have registered an interest in the defender which should worry the likes of Spurs and Chelsea.

According to the report, the Spanish giants who capitalised on the free agent market last summer when they signed Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea, and are now planning a similar deal for Skriniar.

This will be a huge blow for Conte as he’s supposedly someone the Italian really likes and wants to sign.

Tottenham did sign Clement Lenglet on loan in the summer and in case needed, they have the option to sign him on a permanent but Lenglet was always meant to be a stop-gap signing until Spurs signed their main targets.

It would be a shame if Spurs missed out on the Inter Milan man, especially given that they had a chance to sign him for a significant fee in the summer. The board preferred to wait and sign him on a free, but that may turn out to be a decision they’ll end up regretting.
