Latest Real Madrid buy-back option on Reguilon is good news for Tottenham

Real Madrid inserted a buy-back clause in the deal that took Sergio Reguilon to Tottenham in the summer.

The Spanish left-back had helped Sevilla to win the Europa League last season while on loan there.

His performances for them prompted Tottenham to add him to their squad as they hoped to win a trophy this season.

They have failed to achieve that and a return to the top four is still very much out of their hands at the moment.

Reguilon has been one of their best players in this campaign, but adding a buy-back clause to his deal means that Madrid is always going to think about taking him back.

It seems that they sold him because they needed cash after seeing their pockets get hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

However, a recent report from Defensa Central will give Spurs a sigh of relief over the Spain international.

The report says that Madrid has discovered another jewel from their production line whom they expect to be better than Reguilon.

Miguel Gutiérrez has been given some first-team chances by Zinedine Zidane in this campaign and has already made two La Liga appearances.

He is still behind Ferland Mendy and Marcelo at the Bernabeu, but the report says Madrid is confident that he would become a first-teamer and because of that, there is no need to bring Reguilon back.
