Tottenham Hotspur defender Matt Doherty is set to join Spanish club Atletico Madrid on a loan deal until the end of the season as per 90min.
The Londoners are all set to sign Pedro Porro from Sporting CP and they can afford to let Doherty leave in search of regular game time. Djed Spence is already joining French club Rennes on a six-month loan deal.
Antonio Conte was keen to strengthen his right-back options this month and the arrival of Pedro Porro will certainly help the Londoners improve.
The 23-year-old has been outstanding for Sporting and he will add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack. Porro has three goals and 11 assists to his name this season.
Meanwhile, Doherty has been quite inconsistent for Tottenham this season and it remains to be seen whether he can regain his confidence and sharpness with the move to Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish giants needed to add more depth to their backline and the Irishman should prove to be a useful addition. Atletico Madrid were linked with a move for the Tottenham defender Emerson Royal as well but Spurs have chosen to keep him at the club for now.
Doherty will join up with his Tottenham teammate Sergio Reguilon, who is on loan at Atletico Madrid now.
It remains to be seen whether the Irish defender can get his career back on track with regular game time at the Spanish club during the second half of the season.
