Kieran Trippier names former Tottenham midfielder as the GOAT over Messi and Ronaldo

Former Tottenham player Kieran Trippier has named his ex-teammate Mousa Dembele as the greatest of all time over iconic footballers like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Trippier’s surprising choice came during a word association game when asked to name the first player that came to mind when discussing the GOAT.

Trippier went on to praise Dembele’s remarkable skills, both in training and during games, describing them as “frightening.”

He highlighted the Belgian midfielder’s ability with the ball as truly exceptional.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, he said:

“I’m going to put down Dembele (as the GOAT). Of course you could say Messi or Ronaldo, but this guy, when I played with him at Tottenham was the GOAT.”

“Honestly, in training, in games, what he could do with a football was frightening. Everytime people say who’s the best player you’ve played with, he’s one of them for sure.”

Mousa Dembele, who joined Tottenham from Fulham in 2012, played a significant role under manager Mauricio Pochettino during his successful five-year stint at the club.

His departure from Tottenham in 2019 saw him continue his career in China for three years before eventually announcing his retirement.

Trippier’s endorsement of Dembele as the GOAT speaks of the Belgian’s incredible talent and impact on his teammates during their time together at Tottenham.
